Sundance Book "In Progress" (Little Update)
After this post, the next time I’ll say something is when it’s finished. There won’t be any need to bore you to tears with redundant updates. I’ve jumped back into the “Deep End of the Cancer Pool” and will be feverishly stringing together sentences to write chapter after chapter until I finish it.
Start – Finish – Publish are the key milestones for this project.
So, I’ve jumped on this in a big way.
1. I’ve decided on the Title.
2. I’ve written the Dedication.
3. I’ve written the Special Mention.
4. I’ve written the Foreword.
5. I’ve written the Table of Contents
6. And the biggest hurdle of all, I’ve just completed Chapter I – “The Diagnosis.”
So far, I’ve outlined (16) chapters to talk about – each chapter a different path on our walk with cancer. We’ll see if I have enough to talk about or enough words to fill out those pages.
At first, I thought I’d “bitten off more than I could chew” and had a few self-doubts that I could pull something of this magnitude off. But, I found “The Zone” and regained my confidence and after penning the first chapter, I’m again optimistic that I will be able to write this.
Now, whether the public will want to read it or not, that’s another post:) LOL!
I know we recently had a “SPAT” on the board. It’s always hurtful when our members disagreements turn ugly and we turn on each other. I’ve found it’s just best to “just walk away from the fray and return again another day.”
In my study of human nature, I always try and look at the “best sides of ourselves.” And in keeping with that theme, I’d like to share with you part of my Dedication that I wrote for the book.
I hope it can help heal some old wounds and have us again refocus on the new folks who are looking to join our community. The Semis are going to make it in print of this book – very happy about that.
EXCERPT of DEDICATION
“Also, a special thank you to all of my friends on the CSN Network, the Semi;Colons. Their love, support, and friendship, have been very instrumental in my journey. They encouraged me over and over again to finally have the courage to write this book. They validated my writings and my feelings and gave me the confidence I needed to make this sort of dream become a reality. Their stories are so inspirational and I have learned so much from them. They are a wonderful group of people that I have come to know and love. It is my honor to be able to walk beside them every day.”
See you ‘round the water cooler:)
Love/Craig

Awesome
So glad you finally decided to start writing this. I'm looking forward to being one of those honored people to read your book.

Craig, you don't mess
Craig, you don't mess around. Good luck, you will do fine, it will be a great read for, i believe.....millions! I hate that u won't be back until the book is finished. That's sad (we need you), but whatever it takes to get that book completed. I can see Harley at your feet, being either lazy or mischievious, while you are in the Zone.0 -

Yep, no time for too much celebration! No time for rest for the tired or the wicked:)
Just decided to strike while the iron was hot. As much as I'd like to break from cancer, I realize if this is ever going to happen, I've got to attack it just like I attacked my cancer.
If I wait....who knows right?
And I'm not going to go away from here....I'll still be here on the board. I'm working full-time and having to write the book part-time.
The words are pouring out of my head faster than I can get them typed out. I'm "burnin' up" over here" LOL:)
Thank you!

Just for you....an excerpt from The Foreword.
"I’m not going to focus on the medicinal element or treatment plans that pertain to my cancer as this would limit the audience that I am talking to. And, treatments and protocols are always changing and the information would eventually be outdated and perhaps of no value.
Instead, the direction of the book will focus on the “Human Aspects” of Cancer, because all of the topics outlined in the chapters apply universally to all of us and are the feelings and emotions that are consistent with what each of one of us will experience."
I'm giving myself a floating target of about 4-6 months to complete the writing. I'm working full time again, so will have to write in my spare time so it will take a little bit longer.
Let's hope that when this is done, that we can find a publishing house and make this thing happen. What a thrill it would be for all of us!

Having dabbled with writing in the past, and being a bit of a computer programming junkie, I understand getting "in the zone" and burning up a keyboard or three on a project. Wrap yourself in a blanket of creation inspired endorphins, get the goal firmly in sight, and HAVE FUN!!!!!!!
Have you ever given any thought to E-publishing your work? If you're interested, PM me... I may know "someone" who has such abilities
BEST OF LUCK!!!!!0 -

So very glad to hear that you have 'begun'...of course you had really started some time ago with your posts here.
I am certain that among us we can find some way to get your book published, even if it is only by sheer determination, like you have shown in your fight.
When you get about half way done, let us know. From what I have read that is about the time to start the publisher search.
Hugs to our own 'author'!

cool
Wow Craig: That is sooooo awesome!!! I'll definitely want to hear when your book gets published...it's incredible that you can do this! I thought that maybe I should write something about my "life journey" and how I had a family once too, but then I realized that it's all boring, totally insignificant and besides...they left waaaay to eary, so writing a 10-page book/journal would be a waste for people to spend their time (and money) on it. So, I'll just keep my life story for myself, and maybe, one day, I can share it with my future family (if I'll have one). But it's awesome that you're doing it! Good luck and keep up the good work! Can't wait to hear about how your book is getting published!

way kewl
I'm so glad you're getting off to a quick start...it will be easier for you to write the book if you do it while your story is fresh in your mind. My family has been bugging me to write up my cancer story as it goes so they can understand the details that get lost/forgotten, but I just can't do it yet...something about writing it down makes it too real for me...0 -
