Card Shower for Ovarian Cancer Survivors 80th Birthday

My mom just finished chemotherapy for ovarian cancer and is celebrating her 80th birthday on July 11th. She is too weak and sick to have a party so I decided a card shower is the next best thing. Along with family and friends I came to this site because she could possibly get words of encouragement from women who knew what she was going through. If you could kindly send a birthday card on for her July 11th birthday, send to Anita Donner 2716 N. 120th Ave Omaha NE 68164 (this is a business address that will be forwarded to her for security reasons) Thank you for your kindness.....Heidi Donner

    I don't know if I'm losing it
but I am sure I replied to your post. I said I would love to send your mom a card and so would my 87-year old mom. Does your mom like to write letters? My mom does and would be a great pen pal.

Hi Karen yes you did respond earlier thank you. I am new to this site and am just now figuring out the navigation skills. Thank you she would appreciate a card but she is too sick too be an effective pen pal to your mom.....my mom has email and she has all but given that up ....that is why I am on this site hoping for letters of "snail mail" encouragement for her....what else can I possibly do for an 80th birthday with someone so sick? Thank you for responding. Heidi Donner

Is your mom still in treatment? Has she had surgery? I went through chemo, surgery and more chemo. I was Stage IIIc. I have been in remission since November. I am 62. Tell us a little more about your mom so we can offer support and information.

    Mom loved this
    Hi Heidi,
My 80-year-old mother has been in this fight for more than two years, not doing so well these days but trying her best. She loved your idea, and spent an hour writing your mom a little note to say she had walked in her shoes.

In addition to this wonderful place, you can scroll down and join us in the caregivers forum, too. Wishing you and your mother a good day.

    Thanks for the birthday cards
Thanks everyone who posted. I will try the caregivers forum too. My mom had surgery in last November total hysterectomy and colon resection, then started chemo in January and just finished up about 3 weeks ago. Thing is, st her age before all this she was very very active, stylish, and pretty darn good looking. I'm just hoping she can regain something of the person she used to be. You ladies are so brave, I just don't see how you do it and stay so positive. You are truly angels. Heidi

    Over 108 cards received!
I want to thank all of you for sending a card for my mom,s 80th. She ended up getting over 108 cards and they are still trickling in! We had a nice quiet party at home, she had 80 ballons delivered! She is doing good except her feet tingle and bother her. I wonder if the neuropathy will improve? Thanks again everyone! Heidi

    being positive
it is very hard for me to be positive because I just found out that I have overian cancer so right now it is just trying to deal with the news, operation, and chemo all at onece but staying up beat will help me fight this fight with all I have

    Wow
that is great Heidi. It sounds like your mom had a nice birthday. I'm glad she is feeling better. My offer still stands for my mom to write to her if she is up to it. My mom (87 years old) is a terrific pen pal.
