Daughters of mums with ppc?
looking for you who have mums with ppc which in treatment is very similar to ovarian cancer. I am looking for support, trading questions and results, thoughts, and happy hopes for the future with our mums.
My mum is diagnosed with ppc in stage IV. She is hospitalized at the moment but set up for rehab soon. No surgery yet. Two rounds of chemo carbo/taxol which seem to be working for now. The is only 61.
Mum has great anxiety and medicine for that. I try to do a lot for her. We are very close. My kids (I have three) are drawing get well cards, small movies on the cam to get her to fight this disease, I give her massage with calming oil, visit a lot etc. I am also collecting memories.. Stories that she tell me are written down in a special album, I take a photo-diary of her every time I am there etc.
Do you have any suggestions for something more?
We do not have much answer on her prognosis which is much frustrating. But we are slowly learning how to live day by day now. Her husband is great support.
Love to you all,
Millie (in Europe)

Hi Millie
My mum has ppc, we seem to have little info on diagnosis and treatment compared to others here ( it is on the news as I type that England is bottom of the pile in cancer care!) Mum had scans, biopsy and chemo which showed nothing, they decided to go in and she had as I understand a tumour on her ovary and on her bowel, she has ppc which is my main concern, she had chemo straight after her surgery, 5 lots, she has since had CA125 and scan showing the chemo has worked.... at this time she is doing great, walking her dog every day, spending time with her ponies ( mum and dad have new forest ponies ) So I am very proud of her for getting on with life, we are all just hoping for a good long remission X0 -

Hi , my mum has PPC, she was diagnosed just over a year ago now .
First of all she did carbo taxol, and had surgery, surgeon said he had got id off all traces of cancer, it was going great until she had her baseline CT scan at the end of the treatment, which showed she still had cancerous deposits:( It had grown again.
She has now started doxil which is working at the monent, she has had 4 lots now, however they are still having to drain the fluid from her tummy, but the intervals are getting longer and longer between drains, so I am assuming it is still working, or holding it at bay, at the least. Mum is well in herself, that is the main thing, sometimes I just wish I would wake up and this all have been a nightmare, I am sure you all feel the same.

Sorry to hear
Hey, just wanted to say hello. My mom got diagnosed in April. It's scary, isn't it? I think i sat and stared at the wall for like a week in shock. Then, after that it hit me and than i was sad about my best friend suffering. She was sick for so long. I always belittled it. She was ill for years. Finally they went in. it's like metastized everywhere. I had to keep her okay so i went out on leave from work and became her caretaker. I worked full-time and she raised my daughter. I am a single mom who lives with my parents.I finally have realized how special she is. Never again will i take anyone for granted. No more bs from other people. Caddy stuff.
My suggestion is to just act like your continuing on with your life. Yeah, we discuss it because she will probably have her debulking surgery soon. Sometimes even for a second we forget she has cancer.I am just here for support. Chemo has been VERY hard on my mom. The first one was bad but it was also alot of wishing she died combined in with physical pain. That was soooo hard. Hearing everyday,"I just wanna die." Well, no. She has two 7 yr. old grandkids and a 11 yr.old granddaughter. They can't lose her.She is only 62.
Just don't let her give up! Even if you have to cry in front of her sometimes(which everyone tells you not to do), do it. She doesn't want me to keep it all in until i explode. We go shopping alot spending my dad's money. Best of all, is just the downtime where it is our family together. You don't know how it will work out. This cancer is deadly. Just hope!0 -

Hi again,
Thank you for your answers! Even if I do not wish this for anyone else, it is comferting knowing that I am not alone in this. You too are in the same situation with all the frustration and treatments it may be. Yes, as you write BestFriend, I do not want mum to give up. She is in that mood and has been during round one and two. She doesnt want to get out of hospital, she feel taken care of there. I live just 4 km away and try to assure her that me and my kids will be there for her even if she is home. We also have a service of people coming to your home for cancer treatment wich I think would be great. I think she will fight again when she sees her garden.. I do get some hope that your parents are still doing quite well with there lives. Walking the dog sounds fantastic to me! I do hope for some years together with more quality of life than mum has at the moment. And I cant visualize life without her. We are just 19 years apart and she has always been there for me (Mum and dad are divorced and dad lives in Australia).
At the moment, mum has struggeling eating as the tumors are pressing on her stommac. She will have a minor operation today to try to "open up" for food passage. Then she will have round 3 with chemo on the 16th.
Thank you for your support,

The eating is definitely hard when ur stomach is smushed shut. My moms did not have to be opened but she hasn't been able to eat and digest a meal for a couple years. Now, she is addicted to salmon. that ans chicken breast seem to be the only thing she doesn't get really sick on. Good Luck!0
