I found these exercises on youtube in early April. Being dx with NSCLC and with a lobectomy looming, I decided it would not hurt to expand my lungs. Doing these faithfully 3x a day, I felt that they made a huge difference on my lung capacity post surgery. I did not have VATS so the healing process was alittle more extensive. I still do the exercises but am careful not to overstretch. These are wonderful exercises and really did not know why none of my Drs. recommended them. Makes ya wonder. We do not use full capacity of our lungs in the first place so these definitely help us to use the parts we never normally use. I even have my BF doing them with me now.

Hi Cheryl,
I am so glad the exercises are helping. They do train you to get fuller use out of your remaining lung. It's great that you have a friend doing them with you. The exercises are good for breathing, for folks with lung cancer, COPD or just to improve respiratory function.
The pulmonary nurse specialist who developed them really makes them easy to follow. So, yes, please invite more friends. Here's the link again:

Or, you can just go to youtube and search "LUNGEXERCISE".

It is a big plus to be able to do these exercises on your own. My mom went to PT and that was very helpful but she needed something to do regularly to improve breathing and lung capacity. She had her full lung removed and really was having difficulty. These exercises are easily done in a chair so they are great for the home and help in recovery for lung cancer surgery or treatment. We made sure to run it past the doctor and he agreed. So, I am glad you found them (youtube search "LUNGEXERCISE").

These are great exercises and I regret that I didn't have them after my lobectomy. Thanks so much for posting them.
Hi,
I am happy that you found these exercises. They should help breathing, endurance and lung capacity. Of course, be sure to consult with your doctor. The pulmonary clinical nurse who developed them uses the exercises for people with lung cancer, COPD and other breathing issues. Thanks so much for your note (the exercises are at youtube searching "lungexercise"). Here's the link again:

Hi Glenna,
Thank you for the nice note. The exercises help with using the full capacity of your lung, and in keeping your breathing pathways open. Make sure to check with your doctor and take your time. There are some good ideas on how to stop shortness of breath and make the most of your all the different parts of your body involved in getting the most of out of each breath. As the pulmonary nurse specialist says, they are helpful for COPD, lung cancer, asthma and anyone who would like to improve their breathing.
They can be found at youtube, searching "LUNGEXERCISE".
It's great to get your encouragement. Here's the link:
