Alternative/Integrative medicine
Another questions from Neebie-ME!
Have any of you worked with an integrative medical or holistic doctor on ways to supplement your bc treatments? Are there any books that you particularly thought useful in learning about alternatives treatments?
I'm trying to learn about my options.
My MRI results from Monday turned up some more "ify" spots in the left breast. Now I have to have a biopsy on Thursday morning and hope that nothing is malignant!
I'm still feeling good, my attitude is still positive and my gut is still saying, "Everything is going to be fine."
You ladies are the last thing I read before going to bed.
Your posts of encouragement to others give me such warm feelings...I feel wrapped in your kindness and warmth. This is perfect to help me get to sleep.
So thank you and good night!
Be Well,
ConnieCal

Prevent doctor
Hi ConnieCal,
I started working with a prevent doc after my lumpectomy in 2007. She supervises my bio-identical progesterone, DIM and other supplements. I have also altered my diet. I always got plenty of exercise.
If you would like to read my story or get ideas on good books on the subject, you can check out my website at: https://sites.google.com/site/dciswithoutrads/home
where you will also find my email address if you would like to email me re anything.
Hope your MRI results are all good.
Best,

do you homework to understand
Hi Connie
Please educate your self and get opinions from Dx/Onco.
I was diagnosed this February with Triple Negative BC and for several weeks I was browsing internet / libraries to find ANY kind of information just to understand.
I had found good source of info at
a) Dr. Susan Love's Breast Book (by Dr. Susan Love) - this book is very detailed about Breast anatomy, BC diagnosis and treatment AND including a lots of pictures/drawing to explain. I found this book to be very educational and easy to understand.
b) Knockout by Suzanne Somers - she put down her experience and also the way how she manage it (mainly alternatively)
There is also a SEVERAL diets like
a) Johanna Budwig Protocol - The diet is rich in flaxseed oil, mixed with cottage cheese
b) Gerson Diet Protocol - rich on Carrot Juice & Coffee enemas
c) Bill Henderson Protocol
c) Asparagus Diet - Cooked & blend asparagus - twice a day
I decided to go with conventional Chemotherapy (A/C and Taxol over 16 weeks) with Neupogin Injections and I am trying to eat healthy, tried to combine some of the diets in my regime and working as well with my Naturopath, Chiropractor & Acupuncturist.
HOWEVER I decide that AFTER chemo I will have try:
(I still have 2 months to go with chemo)
a) Super IV injection of vitamin C - research showing positive result/ability to kill cancer cells
b) Chelation EDTA Therapy - removing heavy metals from your body (blood)
c) Already ordered B Complex injections
d) Get Hair Diagnosis (saved my hair before chemo)
f) get Complete blood test to see which vitamins/minerals need to be added to my diet or forms of supplements
Prior to Chemo I also have Lumpectomy (4.5cm tumour removed) as well Centennial Note (2cm) and 14 Lymph notes were removed. Diagnosed with DCIS & Triple Negative BC , grade 3. After chemo I still have to go for another incision as my surgeon told me that Margins were too close and after that I am opting out for Double Mastectomy. I have to do everything in my power to get well and reduce chances of reoccurrence as much as I can.0 -

I exactly want to read and educate myself as much as possible.
I already got the "anti Cancer" book which was recommended by a few women on this site. I will get Dr. Love's book when i finish with the first.
Good Luck to you ! It sounds like you have a positive attitude and are doing what you need to stay positive, healthy and in good spirits. I will definitely come to you with more questions once I see my doc/onco again in July.
Be well,

Alternative treatment information
Hello ConnieCal,
If you want to learn of options, my best friend used an alternative treatment that worked for her and so I started a blog about it to collect more information, stories, and news. It's a natural treatment called escozine from my native country Dominican Republic, and it contains the venom from blue scorpions. She and many others have seen their markers go down, thankfully my friend is in remission now. [content removed by CSN moderators]
