Really amazing pictures
I wanted to share some really cool pictures with all of you. I have a Norway Maple tree in the middle of my back yard. My grandmother planted the tree when it was only a couple of inches tall. It is over 50 years old. When I was little I would climb this tree and play for hours in it.
Last weekend I was working in my flowers and happen to look up at my tree you could see a perfect mark of a lighting strike. I got my mom and day to look at it and they all agreed. I called the tree company and they looked at it. They told me it had happened over a year ago and was really bad. My choice was $ 200 to save it or $600 to cut it down. I made the easly choice to try to save it.
They peeled off the bark and sealed to tree and deep fed it.
Please take a look at the photos they are pretty cool. Also, say a little pray the my tree makes it. I have a lot of memories in it brances.
Kathy

Wow
They really peeled a lot off that poor tree. That whole black area is where they fixed it? Does it stay like that or will bark grow around it? Hope your tree makes it. I gave my step mom the biggest maple I could afford at the time, 20 years ago, it was $150 tree. It still looks small to me. We have like no shade around here. Scorching hot here in summer.0 -

I have seen trees patched up like this that have done well. Good for you for giving it another chance. I would do the same. They are sure pretty when they are decorated with clear light's during the holiday's. We moved to a new area with no mature tree to decorate. I miss my old maple & will have to plant & wait for the growing process to begin again.
Good luck

are something else. Certainly did leave it's mark. Couple of the pictures on page-2 are rather attractive, if you don't mind my saying so. Just don't tell your Dad I said so, cause I know the fighter he is, and I got no chance in the ring with him. How's he doing?

I had both of those picture taken for work. My dad is doing pretty good. I have a feeling he might be fighting a little depression and a whole lot of stubborness.

Tell your Dad he's a legend in our realm, which he just might be. As for depression- lot of us go thru varying degrees of it, including me. Staying busy with what you like to do does help.
And, I thank you for inspiring me to do the expression page in my CSN space. Thanks, Kathy.

I hope they were able to
I hope they were able to save the tree. Was he an arborist? What I mean did he have certification? I know someone that is an arborist & he said a lot claim to be but not many actually have certification. With a tree that has so much sentimental value; I hope he knew what he was doing. I don't know anything about tree repair; but if this was my tree; I'd be heartbroken to lose it
Loved the pics of your garden & thanks Skiffin for posting the link because I was clueless on how everyone was seeing them. lol
I use Picasa for my photos- it's easy to share on message boards like this because you click on link to this photo & it gives the html code. Well; I guess we can't hot link here
Since you garden; I'll share a pic from the garden at my old house- I had about 200 roses there
