the shot
I think that they give the shot after ansestesia. I don't recall feeling the shot. Yes there will be some pain from the surgery. But it lessens each day so you will be able to see progress. Will put you on the prayer list.0 -
First of all, Happy Birthday!!!
My daughter's is on June 10.
Now, as far as the rest....
When I was waiting for my epidural for my 'other' cancer (rectal) surgery, I had my head on a pillow and the nurse was standing next to me...I said "I am a tiny bit frightened". To which she replied "It's OK. Everything will be alright. I will take good care of you!" and put her arms around me.
And then I drifted to sleep.
With my lumpectomy for the breast cancer, I think the dye was placed after I was already sleeping....it was all over before I knew it!
BIG hugs to you, dearheart...and look beyond Friday to your birthday!!! A special one at that!!!! mmmmmm....cake....lalalalalala!
Hugs, Kathi0 -
You will be
You will be allright.......you have strength and love on your side! A supportive husband at your side...you can channel off of the love. Being scared is normal...but chances are you will not feel a thing...you will wake up and it will have been all done and you can celebrate Life on your birthday. Hang in there..........hugs sent your way0 -
I remember going through
I remember going through this more than 18 years ago.It was much easier than I had anticipated.I underwent mastectomy and the pain was not too bad at all.The knot in the pit of the stomach!!That takes more time to unravel. One day at a time,my dear, and you will be fine.A very happy birthday! I wanted to be sure and wish you good luck with your surgery. Everything will be fine. It is natural to be afraid or worried about the pain. I really didn't have a lot of pain.
How wonderful your husband will be with you. How lucky you are.
Good luck to you and I will be praying for you.

and you will be all right. I know that fear--before the event. But remember, most of our fears never happen and when they do, they're not as bad as we imagined. You will have a good birthday knowing it's over and you did just fine.

I always say the fear of the unknown is the scariest part. Even though you have been told whats going to happen, imagining it happening to you is surreal.
You can do this. I'm sure your surgeon will order something to help relax you before the procedures start. Ativan, or something like it, about 2 hours prior is often prescribed. Ask your dr to make sure this is done.
We will all be there with you, sweetie. Many prayers will be said for both you and your medical team. Positive thoughts and well wishes and a big pink bus parked right outside.
Big and tender hugs,

I took Ativan before my surgery and it does help to relax you. Ask your doctor if he can prescribe some for you.
Good luck0
