WHY NOT?
I looked this up, but couldn't get too many details. On the surface it sounds reasonable to me, based on the 'mechanism' and how this diet works. The premise is based on data that we have often talked about here. My only concern is 'low protein'. While I can understand they may want to limit certain meat sources, protein is vital to rebuilding of our organs and tissue, while sustaining muscle strength and overall health. So elminating red meats (if that's their approach), sounds reasonable to me.
I say, Why Not? At this point in your Mom's cancer diagnosis (and even lesser stages), this is not a radical approach at all, but seems like a nutrionally sound plan. And the hospital is far from a 'mediocre' medical facility. Please let us know what you and your Mom decide to do, and how you and she are managing through all of this.
Sending hugs and prayers,

I'm also looking into the CAAT diet.Tethys41 said:Laundry Queen
She hasn't been on it, but has researched it extensively. I'm sure she could answer any questions you have about it.
I'm also looking into the CAAT diet. The gyn/onc hasn't offered me anything after chemo but "wait and see if the cancer comes back." I think it would be very challenging to follow such a strict diet and try to also attend social events.
@LaundryQueen--would you consider the dietary restrictions recommended by the CAAT diet to be OK for several months? Any concerns about homocysteine getting out of balance on the folate restriction?
@AnotherChance: Is your mom underweight at all? I would be concerned about the protein deficiency in an underweight patient but the good news is that the CAAT diet is supposed to work along with chemo, too, maybe even help chemo work better.
Any thoughts from anyone else on this subject is appreciated.
Take care & be well y'all,
