dry mouth medication

I had radiation to the jaw for lymphoma approx, 5 years ago. I have done very well except for a chronic dry mouth. I have used Evoxac intermittently with good results. My insurance company is now (after 5 years) refusing to continue to provide support for this and refusing to allow a refill. They now say that there is no FDA approval for this use. Any help or suggestions?

    Biotene
Does biotene mouth spray or mouth wash do anything to help you?

Can't believe FDA says it's not approved, if it was in the past can you find out why not anymore?

Take care and I hope you get some relief soon.

    Hi there,

Have you talked to a Pharmacist about this? They may be able to help with some research regarding FDA approval.

    Good luck,

    :(
Unfortunately they make nothing else that I know of to help with those issues, I have constant dry mouth and they are thinking that I may have a case of LOW stomach acid :( I talked to my pharmacist yesterday and she did not know of anything else. I just drink a lot of water :/

    DRY MOUTH
    Hi Josie,

Have been complaining of dry mouth for several years, so I don't think it's from the chemo or zevalin. A few months ago, my regular doctor was out and I saw someone else, he gave me a prescription for Salagen (geneic is Pilocarpine) and it really helps. I think it only costs a couple of dollars so perhaps you could try that. Hope this helps you, it sure worked for me.
