How long were you on pain meds

David; Oxycontin does not
David; Oxycontin does not work the way it did last year because they changed the formula so that it can't be snorted. I've had 2 increases for back pain in 6 months.
My hub was using Actiq pops for his oral cancer pain; please look into them. They work better for this type of pain then what you are on. Doctors don't like to prescribe it for some reason when it's made for this type of pain.
My hub was abler to suck on it for a few minutes & it was enough to last him most of the day. There were days he'd need 2 pops but not many because of how good it works to control the pain. He used them for the 1st few months after treatment (ending late Dec 2009) & used them occasionally for the rest of the year.0 -

You just describe the same type of pains I also live with and it too is from the radiation side effects. The doctors had me on oxycotin and all kinds of other pain meds, but one day I woke up and said no more and got off all of them cold turkey. Boy did I found out that was the wrong thing to do. I am off of them now but still live with the pain and sometimes it works on my emotions, I do take other pain meds that are not as bad and they do work and help me through the day. The pain is something hard to describe to other when they ask me other then it hurts like hell. Something I do to help is to put a heat pad on the side of my head at night it is only good for 20 min but helps me to fall asleep.
Take care my friend

I was on fentanyl for just over a year. While I still do have daily pain in my tongue, I was very surprised (and dismayed) to find out how much pain it was masking in my neck from the dissection. That hurts me daily as well.0 -

I was only really on them consistantly for a month of so post rads... But I never had the complications you are encountering...
Best,
John
I was lucky & had very little pain! I was given liquid codeine at first. We are all different & I did not have surgery. I was on them for over a month or so!0
