Taxol/Herceptin ??
My question to anyone out there is this. I am scheduled to have the Taxol/Herceptin combo every week for 12 weeks. Last week my MO suggested IF I wanted to I could have it once every 3 weeks. I am unsure if that is something I should do since it has been on the table for 3 months now that it would be once a week for 12 weeks. I know that is a smaller dose and probably a bit easier on the system.
Have any of you done this combo and if so, how did you receive it?

taxol/herceptin
I had taxol and herceptin once a week for 12 weeks ... then continued herceptin every every 3 weeks for the rest of the year. I had no problems ... other than the usual hair loss, a rash or two ... fatigue etc. ... but it was all doable.
good luck.
hugs.

Thank you!! I also will have Herceptin continue after. Did you have the AC treatment prior to the Taxol/Herceptin.
I lost my hair to the AC and notice my eyelashes and brows are thinner... but not completely gone. YET... I guess... ugh! One more fun fact about chemo. lol
I noticed many people mention the fatigue with the Taxol/Herceptin combo. Was it right away or a gradual progression? My daughter has a dancer recital Father's Day weekend and I'm worried I will be down for the count and unable to go watch.0 -

I'm hoping so as well.... Thank you!
On a weekly schedule - it was quite doable and I was able to work throughout the chemo. Side effects were really minimal for me - some fatigue and some blurry vision.
I have not had Herceptin.
I;m now having FEC on a every 3 week schedule - (last one is tomorrow - yeah!) and it's much rougher for me than the Taxol was.
Everyone is different in their chemo reactions as we know but thought I was pass along my not-too-bad weekly Taxol experience.

What is FEC? Not heard of it.
Congrats on your last one today!! That must feel AMAZING to be done with this round.
I have been dealing with blurry vision since on the AC combo. NOT FUN!
Did you have neuropathy with the Taxol at all?0 -

I did not have AC ...
I had a lumpectomy ... then about 2 months later started the infusions of taxol/herceptin. From what I've read here ... it sounds like it's a different experience for just about everyone. I was terrified of nausea ... but NEVER had any. As far as how bad the fatigue was ... well ... I was 65 (2 years ago when this all happened) and I was able to work full time throughout all of the chemo. So ... for me it wasn't too bad. Didn't fall asleep and fall on the floor once. :-)
Hopefully your chemo trip will also be smooth sailing.
hugs.
