You would know right off if I'm excited or not with one visit to West Texas --- Will not miss the the blowing dust, tumble weeds, jack rabbits , 100+ temps in the summer and no rain since September of '10.
Count your blessing that you are not in the oil & gas business in West Texas.
Mike
That bad where your late years? seen some nice pics, bit dry tho! hahaha!0 -
Can't believe it Wolfen , oil wells in the gardens?wolfen said:West Texas
Spent my early childhood in the "big" metropolis of Denver City. Took my huband there to visit relatives once and he said "What are those funny looking things in people's front yards?". I said "Just silly ol' oil wells".
Of course when you're 7 years old, no weather bothers you. Just a great place to play "Cowboys and Indians".
Not doing much this weekend. Husband's dr. appt. today. Trying to stay out of holiday traffic.
Luv,
Wolfen
Joke isn't ?,hahahaha!0 -
Hahahahahahaha, Kathi , it was the reason !KathiM said:I was getting ready to go to Seattle to visit my sister, and my dear beau was looking at something on my laptop. LOOOOOOng story short, he knocked my coffee over, all over the keyboard....WHAT a DISASTER!!! So, no computer....just ordered a new one this morning, so in a week or so I should be back as a regular...
This weekend is a bit busy...my daughter is moving into a condo in a week or so...so there is much to be done. And still working on my mom's estate. And the trip this summer. But no other plans...
I'll checkin when I can...sigh...my PC was such a good one!!!

USA Holiday
Here in the USA it is Memorial Weekend. So we have a 3-day weekend with Memorial Day on Monday. I've been really sick all week, so I'm behind on a lot. We'll see how much I can get done this weekend.
Tomorrow my husband and I are both taking our vehicles in for appointments to get some work done on them and new tires. We are hoping the rain will stop enough here to get the garden in Sunday.
On Sunday night my oldest daughter is coming home for 2 weeks before leaving on her next job. She just finished up tracking desert tortoises in the Mojave Desert for the Forestry Service - this is an ongoing project every year for many years. I haven't seen her since the beginning of March. I'm excited she is coming home. She is a Tour Leader for Trek America; 18-35 year olds from around the world come for adventure tours across America. Her first group of this season is sold out and is 35 days from west coast to east coast, with a few hotels, but mostly camping, and lot of kayaking, mountain biking, etc. She has the greatest job! She gets paid to vacation! (Of course she also has to drive a lot and babysit adults that don't always act like adults...)
Monday we are having a BBQ here. My oldest son is home from college now. My oldest daughter and both of my sons will be here and all are off work that day - my husband too. My other daughter is in Germany, teaching English in an elementary school and doing a research project on a Fellowship. She left 2 weeks ago. I'm kind of sad that the timing didn't work out to get all 4 of my kids together at once. We had 3 of 4 here for her graduation 2 weeks ago, and we'll have 3 of 4 here this weekend too.
My son just got his pilots license, and if things work out, he may take us up for a short plane ride Monday!
Thank you to all our military members past and present, and those who have perished defending our country! Everyone in the USA, please remember to stop and reflect, and give thanks for them on Monday.0 -
I wish I could...*smile*....BettyJoM said:my grandaughter did the same
my grandaughter did the same thing to the new one she got for Christmas. we solved it the economical way, with a plug in keyboard, works well for 20 bucks
but I am a computer consultant...so I need mobility...sigh...
I am happy with the new one coming...Toshiba is my brand of choice and, with it being Memorial Day weekend, they had a killer deal on a 13.3 inch laptop...and then, I googled 'Toshiba coupons' (my latest addiction googling for coupon codes to put in at checkout) and found an extra $20 off!!! AND free shipping!!!

Take care!.
But we did have a good visit with my sister and bro-in-law...beautiful home they have. The weather (typical Seattle) was good one day, rained the rest...but we have that also at times in The Netherlands, so we went about our day anyway...
I'll post pics as I can...the connection on this PC is very slow...but I'm safe and well, and just busy...also registered an invention I had with an agency that can help market. Can't work on my book...no computer...but still shooting for July 4 publish day.....
WHEW! I'm making myself tired just reading what there is to do...lol!

Hey, Pepe!
We're going to a wine festival tomorrow. There will be wine to taste (duh!), food, music, crafts, etc. Should be a great time!
Sunday will be church.
Monday? Not sure? Just hanging out and enjoying the day off, probably.
*hugs*
