    SUV levels
    I drive a 4 door sedan and as far as PET levels go, we have two cats and are not planning any more pets...

    I have a Jetta and 1 lazy, fat - 20lb cat so not much help here either! Thanks for the laugh Phil! I will have a PET scan in August and will let you know.

    Pet Levels
    I don't think you'll get any useful answers to this question.

    Different spots in your body will have different SUV levels. What's really important is the SUV level of a spot relative to surrounding tissue. For example, while 2.5+ is often cited as indicative of probable cancer, my lung nodule had an SUV of 1.0 or less (theoretically normal). But, my radiologist could see that it was subtly brighter than surrounding lung tissue (I looked at it with him). Indeed it did turn out to be a met (which I had surgically removed).

    The kidneys and bladder always "light up" on PET - I assume that the "normal" SUV for those organs is greater than 1.0.

    I understand the jokes about PETS but what has SUV to do
    with your cars? Looking excited and laughing to hear the solution!.

    Anne doesn't seem they do PET's here in Canada...I asked my onc. he said I'd have go to Sunnybrook or someplace like that, but he didn't see the need for one.

    Common to do both scans together
    It is common to have the two scans together and layered for better results. My CT/PT showed the cancer in very bright white. There were other areas of bright white but not as pronounced as the cancerous areas.

    From my last scan
    This talks about my newest nodes from my scan the end of April:

    A new high activity node measuring 1.4X1.4cm with metabolic activity SUV of 6.7, left above the aortic arch. But the rest of the mediastinum area looks good. In the retroperitoneal area a new one in the aortocaval region mid-kidney area 1.3X1cm with SUV 6.7. A new left retroperitoneal just below kidneys 1.3X1cm with very high SUV of 10.6.

    So my most active new ones are 6.7 - 10.6.

    This was before adding Irinotecan back in. My CEA went from over 11 down to 7.3 after one tx with the Irinotecan back in. Then it went from 7.3 to 5.5 after another. This round we dropped the 5-FU and I just had Irinotecan and Avastin. I'll find out what my CEA is next Wednesday (chemo again Thursday). In the past, when my CEA drops, the nodes shrink and SUV drops back down. So I know these numbers are not accurate for me today - they are lower than that.

    I asked my previous onc + she said we will get what we need from the CT scans.
