Pain from my port two weeks after surgery - did anyone experience this?
I am having pain from my port - two weeks out. It is not a constant pain, but when I move my arm certain ways there is a feeling that scar tissue inside is being pulled. Did anyone experience this?

Eva,
You ned to call your doctor in the morning. I have had two seperate ports put in at different times in my life and after waking up from surgery I was sore for a few days and then never felt aything. I have one in now and even when it is "in use", I don't feel a thing. Call your Doctor, please.

Thanks for your quick replies. My port sticks out a lot. The doctors say it will do that forever, because I have no fat for it to rest in. Maybe this has something to do with my sensitivity or perhaps it's a pinched nerv. It seems to have healed well on the surface. However, it was initially badly bruised. This too was, reportedly, because I had no fat tissue, making the procedure more difficult. I will follow your advice and call my surgeon tomorrow. Thanks guys.

My surgeon said that it's harder to put ports in thin women that heavier ones. My thought is you might need to be doing more PT. We're all different - but I had no problems at all but I was back to doing quite a bit 2 days after insertin. I was riding (yeah I did ride the mellowest of our horses but still was working him), I was giving lessons, I was doing all sorts of 'stuff'. I did get out of carrying water, hay bales and mucking stalls for 2 weeks as Hubby and Son did that but other than getting out of those thing i ws doing everything els i normally did. I started Chemo the day after insertins.
Talk to you DR.

Eva,
Definitely talk to your doctor, but just so you know that discomfort can be normal, my port actually bothered me from the day they put it in until the day they took it out! I felt a pulling in my neck and a twinge of pain every so often. And if I worked out or did something strenuous, like shovelling snow, which we on the East coast did a lot this past winter, it actually hurt. So I was very cautious about it. There wasn't anything wrong. It just bothered me. I am not really thin, but the port did rest on the bones in my upper left chest area so that might have been part of the issue. Hope this helps.0 -

Thanks NJMom10!
It does make me feel less worried knowing that someone else also had issues. Will call my surgeon today, but I really appreciate your reply.
