statistics
I went on the computer yesterday, and I've driven myself totally crazy. Now I'm depressed and shaking so much I couldn't sleep at all last night. I think mine said 47% 5 year.
Also am I the only one on here who has had the big C in the nasal cavity and the eye region. I feel so all alone. I actually wonder how i am going to make it, especially after looking at the statistics. So Scared....

Statistics
Kim don’t worry yourself sick about statistics, what statistics don’t take in is a person health, where they live, and there life style which are contributing factures. I am NPC my first treatment was 8 ½ years ago. It came back and I fought it again that has been 7 years ago. I only had less then a 10% to 20% chance of surviving and I made it, so that right there through the statistics out into the cold.
Keep a positive attitude, eat good healthy food, get out in to the fresh open air all these things will help you beat statistics.
Wishing you the best

Stats can make you nervous.
Absolutely. I have bumped up the thread by Greg53 (LONG TERM SURVIVOR RATES)for you to read because this topic has been discussed before and will be discussed again. I found very early on not to read the stuff on H&N on the internet. It was not relevent to Mark's case. They are numbers of H&N cancer of all origins, all ages, and all treatments (good and bad). It was not relevent to Mark, who is clean after 2 PETS and ENT says he has a 90% chance of staying that way. Stats are based on OTHER people. You, your diagnosis, your treatment plan, facility, and your attitude impact only YOU. Don't clump yourself in with everyone else.
Please read Greg's thread.

Most have done the same
Kim,
Just as Kimba and Hondo have stated, ignore the numbers, you WILL worry yourself sick. I would say that most people have done the same thing, myself included. We find out we have this disease and we jump on the computer searching the information highway to find answers. Many of the sites have incorrect info or outdated information, some by 5-10 years old.
I went through my treatments with a guy that my wife worked with and he had the same type of cancer you mentioned. Nasal and near his eye, the Doctors wouldn't operate and treated him with Radiation and Chemo. He finished treatments 6 1/2 years ago,and played golf each day after treatment. He still works and continues to play golf every chance he gets, which is nearly every weekend.
As mentioned above, a positive attitude, and healthy life style are helpful.

perspective
Kim, somebody has to be in the 53% who DO survive.
Why not you?0 -
Only two stats!
There are only two stats I observe. One of them I observe I totally ignore. The other observing number is 100% or what I like to call is Survivor! You are a survivor starting from the moment you are told you have cancer. Reading odds on the internet do not give a positive mental attitude.
Believe you will kick cancers butt and you will.

Y'all have already made me feel soooo much better, It just helps to know that others feel the same fear and anxiety. I already feel like part of a family. It is just so rough because you go through treatments and then scans and then something shows on the scan , so back again. God Bless Y'all.0
