First colonoscopy

At 42 years of age, one finds that there are fewer and fewer "Cherry" experiences, but last week was a good reminder that I still have a LOT to learn...

My surgeon schedules me for my followup colonoscopy last wednesday,and gives me a script for "MoviPrep" to take the evening before the procedure the following morning. Now, as I go into walgreens after work, I'm picturing a small 8 ounce container of something I'm going to drink, or perhaps even something as simple as a pill to swallow...but no, it can't be something THAT easy. TWO LITERS to chug down within 2 hours time, PLUS almost the same amount of water.

I actually thought I would be PEEING all night folks... ummmmmm, not QUITE. heh heh

So, after practically NO sleep I hop in the car with momma to drop kiddies off at school/daycare and to the medical building we go. I get changed into the infamous hospital gown that is the BEST fashion statement around if you like to moon people and lay on the gurney and wait...and wait...and wait some more. But not all boring.. the nurse comes into to start an IV (which, with ME is usually at LEAST a two or three stick ordeal...thick skin and elusive veins), then get visited by the anesthesiologist who goes over the same old same old (wish I could just copy/paste my responses to them like I can in the computer world...would save me at least a days worth of time in the past 12 months).

Finally get wheeled into the procedure room. The anesthesiologist squirts some happy juice into my IV and says something like, "Now, this will make you a little sleepy". The next thing I fully remember after those words were sitting in my easy chair at home, eating BurgerKing, wondering if I had just had a stroke induced hallucination of the procedure.

Everything checked out fine by the way,and I look forward to my next procedure
