Tattoo Artist Wanted!
He was very discouraging about doing any tweaking, but I was adamant I want the underarm roll gone as well as the kinda sad, droopy skin on one side. Last but not least I would like them symmetrical! He seemed a little surprised to notice they really aren't the same size! He finally said he would write it up and submit it to my insurance and see what they'd approve.
Then as he packed up to go from the exam room he asked if I had any other questions. I said, 'Yes! I thought perhaps we'd discuss nipples!!!' 'Oh, I can construct nipples for you, but I'd recommend you see a tattoo artist for the areolas, they do a better job than I do.'
So....I asked for a recommendation and he said he didn't know any!!!! I told him I wouldn't be comfortable going to your typical tattoo parlor and asking for a pair of realistic nips, and asked who his other patients used. He said that by the time they get the tattoos he doesn't see them again, so he has no names!!!
Up to now I've thought highly of my PS, but he really, really let me down this week. So....anyone know a good, talented and discreet tattoo artist in the Greater Sacramento area???

Oh boy.. this will be an area I will have to look into in about 8 months. I hope I get better cooperation from my PS. I am shocked that he didn't have a referral for you, I mean it's not like you're his first reconstruction patient. A couple of weeks ago when I last saw my PS he saw my loose skin and he mentioned something about filling that when he does my implant exchange. One of my girls is riding slightly low too, but they are still tissue expanders so I'm hoping he can fix that when he puts the implants in.
I got my shoulder tattoo from a very reputable tat artist here in Wisconsin. I think if worse comes to worse I will contact him and get his recommendation. Can you maybe find a reputable tattoo artist in your area and ask them for advice, I mean I am sure they've tattooed more things then you and I can think of. I somehow don't believe nipples would be a shocker. The big question is can they do a 3D tattoo?
Wow... Good Luck and thanks for opening my eyes. I have lots more questions to ask my PS.

My family lives in
My family lives in Sacramento, and wouldn't you know it, one of my neices just had her foot tattooed over the weekend! I don't know where or who, but I will ask her, and when I have the information, I will let you know! Granted, it isn't nipples, but it might be a start of a tattoo artist finding journey!
I have a business idea...I envision a tattoo parlor catering almost ( dont want to break any laws! LOL) exclusively to women and most especially those needing nipple tats. All soft and pretty Tattoo salons, maybe some pink decor, new age music~ champagne ( why not?) And how will you know this is The Place? From the name, of course! "A Tat for a Tit!"
I will let you know what my niece says, ok?
Hugs,

Thanks All,
How very kind of you 1Acme to even offer a room for a night!! I never thought my quest for notable nips could take me as far afield as Toronto or Wisconsin, but then this journey is ALWAYS full of surprising turns. Hopefully, Chen's niece will be able to steer to me a true Artist in my neck of the woods, but I am most grateful for your generous spirit!
Yes, Chen, yes! Please let me know if your niece can assist me. I won't be needing the tats for awhile, since I am hopeful the insurance gives approval for a revision, but I want to visit the place and get some level of comfort. I am such a stodgy, conservative type that I've never crossed the threshold of a tattoo parlor in my life! OMG, do you think it could lead to a .....dare I say it??......Harley M/C and some leather britches??? Who knows where this could lead?
Thanks again

Way too funny! I am serously thinking of getting a permanant ankle bracelet that says no blood draws, immunizations, or blood pressures on right arm. I understand that all EMT's check the neck, wrist and ankle for medic alert jewelry on patients who are unable to communicate. I sure wonder too about reputation and cleanliness involved in this type of busineess.0 -
Hey Chickadee,
I am scheduled to have my areola tattoo in June. My PS only does this once a month. I have had to cancel for appointment for this 3 times, because something would come up like a trip to the beach, or something else I wanted to do. The tattoo always came in as non important. Will post when I get this done. I have seen pictures of her work and am impressed.
Hope everything else is good with you.

the 3 D tatt in his office .. without insurance I am looking at about $1800.00 - several visits for the entire tattoo. I've seen 'after' pictures, and there are unbelievable!
*Chickadee -- Do you have the option thru insurance to go out and get a 2nd option on your new breasts? If so, I would run to another PS and get his/her opinion on how to tweek your new BREASTS. You have some time as your PS office is checking with your insurance company -- seeking approval for the modification surgery. I laughed out loud, when I heard our surgeron pulled out the camera -- for after photo's .. is he insane!!!? We as breast cancer women have the right
.. to have our breast look the very same (in my case a little larger) as our breast looked before we had them removed due to breast cancer..
Good Luck .... let us know what happens, okay?

Thanks Vicki Sam. I've actually been thinking about looking for someone else. The first choice I had is another surgeon in the same office. She was not available when I needed the first consult last year, so I went with Dr. Green. He has a great rep and was actually recommended by a friend (a nurse whose daughter say him for a nose job) and my general surgeon was aware of his work with geriatric patients. The woman in his office was my general surgeon's first thought for breast reconstruction. I may ruffle feathers, but I know my insurance would cover this doctor as she's in the group and I saw her work online & it looked better than these. Of course, Dr. G's looked better, too.
I should be fair, they are not AWFUL, but they are not symmetrical and are a bit lumpy, bumpy. Perhaps this will change with time, but the roll under the arm HAS TO GO!
Thanks for the encouragement. I'm not accepting this as my 'after'!
