Folfiri +Avasin cough an breathe issues ,need your help!

    I didn't have this when on folfiri + avastin + I am sorry to hear you do. I think you should let your doctor know if you are having breathing problems.

    Did not do Avastin this time with the chemo - just finished the Folfiri and did not experience coughing as a result.

    If you remember, I did catch some kind of sinus infection that led to bronchitis and I had coughing issues for about 8-weeks until it cleared, but don't think it was related to chemo at all. Just caught a bug.

    Robert became
    very short of breath while folfri w/ avastin. Onc said it wasn't a chemo issue and had a lung scan looking for embolism or a clot. Lungs came back clear. Also went to cardio doc who did stress test and a whole work up. No issues...I think it was the chemo, but what do I know?? Finally resolved itself.

    I read the "white paper" when I first started taking Avastin - continued use can lead to congestive heart failure, but of course it never stated how long "how long" was for that.

    I took it for about 8-months and developed a little bit of an abnormal heartbeat where I have to catch myself as I breath in it feels like there is no air there.

    It's permanent and my onc then dismissed it - but I was not even close to that prior to taking Avastin - like you say, Angela, "What do I know?"

    did u say you still have breathing and irregular heartbeat sometimes? what's the breathing like?

    My husband didn't have an
    My husband didn't have an issue with breathing but always a cough while on Avastin. He did while he was on Fofox and Avastin and his current combo CPT 11 and Avastin.

    It's hard to explain (unusual for me I know)...

    But you are breathing normally and then the next breath, you sort of gasp for air like you are trying to catch your breath. It happens me to many, many times a day. It's become my norm.

    It's a weird feeling - right after that happens, breathing is back to normal.

    Never was like that before I took Avastin - I can't prove it and it's a moot point for me now. But, anyway, it is something like that.

    I do that too. Alot of times it happens when I'm trying to go to sleep or just waking up. It is not uncomfortable and its just that one quick, deep breath...then normal. I've had it for a long time. Started about 5 years ago...So far I'm in a 10 year remission from Lymphoma. I think it is being caused by my chemo agents adriamycin and bleomycin...bad for the lungs.

    Pepe, please,please see your doc, it could be an infection. I hope it is nothing but please try to stay on the safe side.

    Jimmy had a cough and got
    Jimmy had a cough and got pulmonary fibrosis when he was on folfox/avastin, the onc at Sloan thought it was caused by the oxi. They took him off oxi and put him on Folfiri w/avastin and he still has the cough but the fibrosis is stable. I think he didn't start coughing until he went on the avastin, but I think it is the avastin that is keeping him stable.

    I was on Xeliri + Avastin so very slightly different. I was about to say I never had an issue with breathing or cough. But uh then I remembered that I had a mild, dry cough -- non-productive --. And guess what -- I stopped the chemo about 8 weeks ago, and the cough has gone (duh). So I guess related.....Never had any breathing issues tho....
