Good cookies...
Today was my "dry run" for my rads. Looks like everything is lined up real nice with my tattoos. Dr. reads the films this afternoon and my first treatment is tomorrow.
Anyways I was just curious, is there or was there any goodies provided to you in your clinic's waiting area? I had a nice chocolate chip cookie (warmed)and water. And another curious question... Is there always a puzzle (in progress) for you and others to work on in your waiting areas? I swear they are all over this hospital here in Green Bay. LOL
Hugs,
Lorrie

Cookies would have been wonderful but unfortunately there was no food for me. but they did have a T.V and that was nice and of course magazines. but I never really had to wait too long. 5 minutes at the most.
Plenty of magazines, but no snacks. I was their first patient in the am so I didn't even sit down after changing0 -

i loved my treatment center for radiation..but NO TIME for snacking...EAch of us had picture taken and swipe ID badge-each day as we enter...we'd swipe our card ..go change and they would be ready for you....no waiting or down time...

I barely had time to wolf down my cookie too.. I think most of the entertainment stuff is for family members. But hey I bet my cost of treatment reflects me stealing a cookie every now and then... LOL
So far day one they were pretty efficient. I was even taken in early... I was there and back at the office in under an hour. Let's hope this pace continues. = )

P.S. Denise sweetie, good luck tomorrow my friend.0 -

P.S. Denise sweetie, good luck tomorrow my friend.
The waiting room at my cancer center for rads had everything! They had a frig full of pop, water, juices, chocolate and white milk and wine. LMAO..ok I am kidding about the wine.
They also had all kinds of snacks. Little bags of popcorn, cheese popcorn, cracker, chippies, cookies, fritos and much more. They also had a huge bowl full of gum and candy.
Sometimes the techs or the receptionist would bring in home baked goodies too, which were delicious. Some of us did also just to show our thanks to them.
And yes, there were the puzzles! Everyone was always working on them, but, I was always talking so much that I never got to them. lol
Good luck tomorrow!

and doughnuts every Thursday. Coffee was always on too. There wasn't a lot else but there wasn't a lot of time either and the waiting area was too small to just hang out and chat.0 -

I took my friend a few times for radiation treatment.I stayed in the waiting room. She was in and out fast. She told me it would be quick and was much better than chemo.
I did see the chemo area where my oncologist is.It had a room with TV's etc. I just glanced in. I really didn't want to see it since I didn't need chemo.
Hope it will be easy tomorrow for your first treatment. We'll all be thinking of you.

at the half~way point I baked cookies for my rad team. they were really great fun, they had christmas lights strung around the room so i wouldn't be in the dark while having treatment!
How nice to be provided with warm cookies, and puzzles to keep your mind (and tongue) busy!0 -

We had drinks and snacks available for us. They also had a big flat screen tv, lots of magazines and puzzles.
They really made it comfortable for us and for those that brought us.
Good luck,

Hey Lorrie,
Thanks nice that they do that for the patients/guests. I didn't have rads, however, at my infusion center they had a stocked refrigerator with all kinds of drinks, as well as a slushie machine and coffee/tea maker. They also have all kinds of snacks. If you are there at lunch time, one of the volunteers brings around sandwiches.
Good luck with your rads.

They had a frig full of anything you would want to drink and always had huge bowls of candy and lots of snacks for everyone.
And, someone was always working on the puzzles they had. Just the nicest and greatest people worked there, in my opinion!
My rads cancer center was amazing in every way!

The rads area of my cancer center had none of this..I wouldn't have had time to partake even if there was...I was in and out in 10 minutes! They ran a tight ship!
But the chemo room was awesome! If you were there in the mornings, they served breakfast, lunch time it was lunch.....all this came from the hospital cafeteria...any kind of snack you could want...comfy recliners, or a bed if you preferred....heated blankets...books magazines, iPods...They really pampered us....it made it so much easier...every one so kind and compassionate....the day of my last treatment, my husband, who went to every treatment, had a lunch catered in for the chemo crew.....We just wanted to show are thanks and gratitude. after all, there is no substitute for kindness....we wanted to " pay it forward."0
