Blood Pressure
I am seeing my primary tomorrow to talk about my blood pressure I don't know if he will even put me on anything because my pressure is usually not too bad when I am checked in the dr.s office but seems to spike in the morning when I first get up. I will let you know if he prescribes me anything

Thanks Colleen. I'm going if I need it let my primary care monitor it. He seems to monitor me more closely and I really trust him.0 -
Yes
Hello. I am on Avastin and my bp is high on it. They started me out on 5 mg of lisinopril and I am up to 20mg now. I have received 6 treatments of the Avastin. Good news is that the Avastin is working for me. As long as the blood pressure can be under control, then I am liking this. My primary doctor is the one who has to decide on the bp medicine. The gyn/onc keeps a close watch on the numbers.
Good luck with it.

Bp medication
I saw my primary on moday and he put me on 10mg lisinopril, I am hoping to have my blood pressure go back to normal after I am done with the Avastin in about a month.

Hi Colleen,
I was wondering how many treatments of the Avastin you have had. My doctor didn't give me count as to how many treatments I would receive. You said you would be done in about a month. Is it working for you?

Colleen, avastin was VERY effective in getting my mother's cancer recurrance under control, causing three growths to disappear on PT scan. However, it did a number on her blood pressure, and one infusion was postponed because of it. Since she's been out of chemo the BP problem has persisted, so be prepared to watch it. My mother bought a home BP monitor so she can be sure she stays in the safe zone, and she keeps a log to share with her GP. Good luck!0 -

Linda, my mother had 8 infusions of avastin with carbo for recurrance; her first line chemo was carbo and taxol, then she was on tamoxifen for several months.
The chemo nurses told me that while the carbo infusions were limited to 8 max, that some patients are kept on Avastin much longer if it's working and there are no serious side effects. This report from a pretty cutting edge cancer research center.0 -

My Dr said she would give me six treatments but I have not had a recurrence yet. Ths is a preventative measure. I think she wanted to give me the Avastin with my carbo/taxol but thought she was going to have to do a second surgery . I will have a ct/pet scan in August.I would love to stay on it and am going to ask her about staying on it but I doubt she will agree. I am glad it is working for you.
