another biopsy-please pray
please pray for my mother, Pauline, as we go in the morning for another biopsy. so scared
A couple of questions...have any of you heard of surgeons using some type of GPS sytem to guide them during surgery to the mass. Also it the pet scan is very bright in an area, does that mean its cancerous?
This site is a blessing and so are all of you

Biopsy
I have had 2 biopsys in the last 2 weeks and one came back good and i am waiting for this biopsy to come back. The doctor is not worried about it. I have had cancer since July 2010 and have never had a pet scan. I asked my doctor about it and he said i have to much swelling for it to be accurate.0 -

Will keep your Mom in prayer, sometimes the PET is just showing a hot spot sometimes it is showing something there, the Biopsy will tell the truth.
All the best

Thoughts & Prayers
Coming your way...
Like HONDO mentioned, the bright spots don't specifically show cancer. They show high cellular activity. Which is how cancer cells react with the sugar and stuff they have you drink first.
But, other factors can cause those same cells to light up also... So basically, it's just a tool to look for areas to be further investigated. Doesn't 100% confirm they are cancerous.
Best,
