not too sure how to use this site yet. Its so wonderful to get all this support. I really need it. I live in NE Penna. I have been a widow for 13 years and I have chosen NOT to tell my 2 daughters until I know for sure. Ive been sitting on this for over a week and its killing me.
I called the oncologist yesterday, a PA answered and she said the pet scan was still being processed. I have to get the call today. my computer is acting up and I may have to take it in for repair. Ill try to post the news before i do that.
Is there a way to get e-mail notices when someone replies on this site?
Thank you all for your support. I wish I had found this site sooner

    Hi, BettyJoM -

You didn't mention what you have already gone through,
    that required a PET scan.

One of the things I did, back when I first started posting here,
was to fill in the blanks on the "profile" page. It allows others
to see what you've been through..... some history.... And that
allows you to get answers without having to go through typing
out all the details over and over.

I have never had a PET scan. I've had more than my share of
CT scans, X-rays, and Sonograms, but no PETs. Each test has
s specific purpose, but there are physicians that love scans of
all types, regardless of their value.

That aside, too bad about the computer! What's it doing or
not doing? Someone here might be able to offer a suggestion
    for that, too!

My Laptop suffered from some virus a few years back, so I took
it to a shop, instead of taking the time out to fix it myself.
One month and $250 later, I had my laptop back with a new
HD that failed to work right, and most of my programs missing.

I ended up re-formatting the new HD and re-installing Windows
myself. I'm glad that I insisted they give me my old drive back,
since all of my programs were still on it. It took me a few weeks
of "part time" work, but everything was finally restored.

After all that, the screen hinge broke.... so now it's in the garage,
    mostly collecting dust.

(Just a little story to break the monotony.....)

The "private message" system here is worthwhile, and can be
better than giving your personal email, or any other personal data,
out for the world to see. A forum is a forum, and even though there
are really, really decent folk here, there can always be one that
can come along and make wish you didn't publish anything too
personal. It happens, so be careful, just as you would on any
    other forum.

I wish you great health, and a good scan!

    Hi BettyJo
Sorry to hear of your situation. I hope your scan turns up negative for cancer.
As far as your question "Is there a way to get e-mail notices when someone replies on this site?" As far as I know (that's pretty far...) there is no way to get notifications other than by logging on to this site. If you don't have a computer at home you could always try a library or other public centers. (just remember to log out!)

    Thanks John, I am looking
Thanks John, I am looking for the profile page. there was a crackling sound near the hole that the charger goes in and now it is difficult to charge. you have to wiggle the wire. Got a short somewhere. I dont have another so Ill be stuck.
I asked about the e-mail notification because I joined Daily Strength support group for colon cancer and when someone write to me on there it sends a email to my email to tell me.

I was diagnosed last august. malignant tumor in my cecum. had a resection, no colostomy, and then started chemo for 6 months. I finished about 5 weeks ago. my routine blood work showed my CEA rising. this was a week ago my oncologist told me. I am so stressed out waiting for the pet scan results I had friday.

I am 58, was a nurse for 20 yrs, widowed 13 years ago, have 2 daughters and 6 grandkids

I am from NE Penna. where are you from John

    Hi
You can get an email which will tell you if you have any PM's on here.

Go to "My CSN Space" which you can click on the left side near the top of the page on the tab CSN.

Once on the My CSN Space page click on the edit tab on the top of the page.

Go to preferences and there is a space to enter your email address. Do that.

Now scroll down to "private message settings" and click to mark those you wish to activate.

Lastly at the bottom of the page click on submit.

This should get you notifications on any PM's here waiting to be read.

Don't know of any way to get emails regarding postings to threads you have opened, sorry.
