Not a Happy Camper

Exhaustion hit me today at work. Could barely keep my eyes open, rested during break and lunch and finally left for home at 1:45. The drive home was ok, just the wake up bumps got me once....not from sleeping but mind drifting.

So I have been in bed ever since, but my legs and hips are killing me! I think it's from the Neupogen shot, but my god this is horrible right now. I didn't have this type of pain last cycle, why now? And what's worse I get 4 days in a row of this shot before they harvest my sc's?

Better be bringing on some pain meds. good grief.

A very unhappy woman,
Beth

    Beth,
I know exactly what you mean about that dragging A$$ syndrone. So many of us here know the feeling of 1/2 a tank of enery.I thought after the chemo it would all come back. Makes me wonder now if it was the Rituxan all along for a lot of the problem.Makes you wonder if the energy is ever coming back.I only go every 6 months for maintenance, but others that go every 2 months will be able to tell better if their strength gets less and less after each infusion.I know about the pain in the hips too. I don't really know what was causing it,but I never had it before chemo. The pain is gone now,but was really a drag when it was there. I hope you feel better soon. I think about you and the others all the time. John(FNHL-1-4A-5/10)

    New normal
    John,

Sorry to let you down my friend, but the loss of energy is not the rituxan at least in my case. There have been extended time frames where I did not have any rituxan actually almost a year and the energy level never recovered back to pre-chemo.

Our bodies are not made to be poisoned like this, and the drugs do have effect on us. We do get better, we do heal as much as possible but there are long term effects. I think chemo aged me by 10 years or more (at least it feels like it)

Maybe daily excercise will help and increase a little at a time??

The hip and leg pain is from the Neupogen shot. It is my bone marrow being stimulated.
The pain pill, prayers and heating pad helped with the spasms...Thank God.

    Take care my friend,
    Beth

    Log term effects
    Beth,
I just hope the energy level gets back up. You know I felt like I had more energy 2 months out of chemo than I do now at times. I got the NEULASTA shot 6 times. (You notice I used capitol letters.Anything that cost that much should be written in gold) That does the same as far as stimulating the blood cells. I had all kinds of hip pain. The lower leg cramps at night make you feel like an acrobat jumping out of bed trying to get the charlie horse out. Of course the Dr. said it did not come from the shots. Bulls**t to that!!! Makes me wonder what else they are lying about or don't they know or just not telling us. John

    Leg Cramps
I had my leg cramps pretty bad, my doc said it was side effect of the chemo I think the vincristine, maybe the cytoxan. They were horrible!

Hopefully the pain from the shots won't last long.

    Take care,
    Beth

    Leg cramps
    Beth,
My leg cramps went away about a month after the chemo stopped. Yes they were horrible. The hip pain about the same amount of time after the NEULASTA shots stopped. John

    John and Beth
    My friends,

I am so sorry to hear about your leg cramps and hip pain. I too have hip pain which
I beleive was caused by the BMB. As far as the leg cramps, Instead of sleeping with my legs straight out, I pull them slightly up to my lower hip. Not quite a fetal position, but somewhat. I read or saw a news broadcast about eating a banana each day for leg cramps. I
started this regimen, and I think it has helped. I always loved banana'a, and ate them a
few times a week. But, now I eat one each day.

Let me know your thoughts. Love Maggie
