Post Chemo-Hodgkin's
I was wondering if anyone could help me. My daughter finished her chemo mid March, and I was wondering if she should be still feeling the effects of it. She sometimes complains of pain in her back but it isn't there at all times. Also, she is complaining of pains in her stomach. She describes it as being "gasy". She had Hodgkin's in her chest and was treated with 8 cycles of ABVD. Her doctor ordered a CT scan and he thinks what is left is scar tissue but he is ordering a PET scan to be sure.

After effects
Nicky,
I did not have ABVD,but had R-CVP. I also had funny feelings in my stomach and a slight pain in my lower back. The chemo affects us all different and my Onc. told me what I was feeling may be related to the chemo after effects. I also had severe leg cramps for a few months after chemo. That stuff has all but gone now but still feel it once in a while. I had a pet scan and all was clear.I am now on the Rituxan maintenance, no picnic, but nothing like chemo. John(FNHL-1-4A-5/10)0 -
Hey
I finished my treatments of ABVD and Radiation in late October. I have stomach pains too, I think its an ulcer actually that wont go away, also I get stabbing pains in my back from the radiation ? I think its from that, it feels like either a shock or a nerve pain somewhat. Sometimes it lasts for 30 minutes or so. I cant take any meds at all because it tears my stomach to peices. Its very frustrating. I'm hoping that they all eventually go away, but I've heard they can last for years.I also have heart palpatations, ick they are no fun. I hope that helps, Take care and God Bless. Tracie0 -

Oh Tracie, if you think it's an ulcer please get it checked out. There is medication they can give you to heal it. Ulcers can be extremely nasty. Don't know about the stabbing pains in your back.
I hope you get to feeling better very soon. How's the baby?

Tracie,
Beth is so right about those ulcers they can be nasty and its rare they heal by themselves. They can perforate your stomach and then you have a real bad problem. Please get it checked out. John(FNKL-1-4A-5/10)0 -

Ive been trying to get them checked out but it seems as if everytime I tell the dr what I think the pain is from he suggest that its something else, Im pretty sure it is an ulcer unfortunately, I've been doing research on home remedies I'm hoping I can find something, I hate the way the health care system is set up here, you have to have refferals for everything! Thanks and God Bless, Tracie0 -

Tracie,
I know its a pain when you try to explain to these KNUCLEHEAD so called DRs. that you have pain and they want to tell you its all in your head or its not what you think. So many have that "Better than thou" or "I am God" about them. I have met a few of them and got rid of them fast. You have the pain,so why won't they listen. Try and find one that will listen,if that is possible. They do make me sick. John0 -

I know that attitude alllll to well! I'm stationed in a military town and dont get me wrong I appreciate the benefits that I receive but our Naval Hospital just about killed me because of it and a few others I've met along the way. Scary, really. The dr I have now is trying a little harder but I think hes still just "new" I'm going to go back and see him about it. Also I read online about DGL licorice root? Its supposed to help heal them, also been doing cabbage but the smell is grossing everyone out, its been stinking up the whole house!!! Thanks and I'm glad your back John!! God Bless All Tracie0 -

Dear Tracie,
Did your doctor suggest a CT scan? I worry about you having ulcers, and
the ulcers perforating.
A friend of a friend passed away weeks ago. She had pain in her abdomen, and
didn't go to the doctor. Anyway, on a Monday she had such terrible pain, and
passed out in her husband's arms. She was rushed to the hospital. She died, she
bled internally. An ulcer is very serious.
Let me know your thoughts;. Love Maggie And insist on a CT scan0 -

Hey Im actually feeling better, the stomach pains are edging off. I completely quit taking all meds and have changed my diet, now my doc is concerned that I may have a billary(sp?) problem. Ive been having pains in the upper right portion of my abdomen, there is a whole list of things that could be causing it so I'm having an ultrasound done of my liver gallbladder and pancreas. Thanks for all the replies, take care and God Bless Tracie0 -

My neice has problems with her bili....her liver and has complained of those types of pain. They've got her on medicine (lifelong) but she's doing much better now.
Hope they figure it out soon Tracie, I know you have to be miserable.
Take care,
Beth0
