sister
Just found out that my sister's breast ca has returned. I've been sorting out my feelings all morn.
The last few weeks I have been worrying about my mammo and results. Now this just is adding to my worry. Feeling a bit lost about what and if I should do anything more or different.
Knowing family history , well it stinks. I feel like I have enough to deal with right now.
Thanks for listening, I needed to get that out...

Oh man
Lisha,
I'm sorry to hear about your sisters bc. I know this news has to absorbing your mind. I wish I could hug you and make all this go the hell away.
It's ok to worry about ourselves you know, we would be a very abnormal species if we didn't.
How long had she been cancer free?0 -

Hi Beth,
Thanks for the warmth.
She had been free about 8 years , I think.
Just scares the you know what out of me. She is only 54.
My Aunt and 2 cousins also have BC.
I was just thinking this am , about getting tested for the bcra gene.
Sure hope you are feeling a little better today.
peaceful healing

Hi John,
I so agree with you. They need to find cures, not just tx.
Hope you are doing well.
Lisha
8 years, that's not so bad. What are they thinking about doing, or does she even know yet? They have come very far in that time with new treatments from what I understand.
I know what you mean about breast cancer and family fear. My mom died of BC and my sister and I both have fibroids, then now with my own cancer and it's refusal to behave itself for a few years all have me worried. You should have seen me when they found the microcalcifications and how freaked out I got. I had to do the 6 month "diagnostic" mammograms......good LORD talk about pain. I have barely got anything for boobs and the chick that did my test, had NO mercy. Actually my onc laughs at me and got the name of the technician who did it so I can avoid her at all costs. If you see someone named Susan, run for your life! LOL
I also have another cancer buddy who has IBC and has had a couple of hard relapses. One relapse went to her brain, she had surgery and is doing great from that, but it's come back and she's doing a clinical trial on a bc drug now. I need to contact her to see how she's doing.
Go enjoy the sunshine!

Ditto "Oh Man"!!!
My gosh Lisha..if anyone is over-due to catch a break, it is you my friend. You must be asking yourself..."What next???" I am so sorry your sisters breast cancer has come back. Having 7 sisters myself, I know the worry you will now have to deal with, not only for her, but for yourself, especially knowing the history in your family with this type of cancer. Telling you to hang in there, or be strong at this point would be lame for me to say. Lord knows you've been doing that for months now...well, actually years, from what all you have shared with us. Let me just extend all of my love and support to you, and tell you that I will continue to believe that somehow, someway, you ARE going to get through this, and... with all of us by your side. So many of our dear members here are definetely being put to the test right now. My heart and prayers go out to all of you. You know the drill my dear...keep coming to us and we will ALWAYS be here for you! Love you...Sue (FNHL-2-3A-6/10)0 -
Unbelivable
Dear Lisha,
My subject of this post is "Unbelievable". Why, why is all this piling up on
you with all you've been through. It's not fair. Enough is enough.
I did read your sister has been in remission 8 years. That's great. What's not
so great, the BC returned. Try and have faith for her and yourself. I believe
there are many options for her since 8 years ago. Just the fact the BC stayed
away for so long, is a good sign.
You mentioned going for the test for the BC gene. If it would make you feel better,
go for it. When are you scheduled for your mammo?
i just added your sister to my prayer list. Love Maggie0 -

Life isn't fair but you are getting way too much. We are here for you anytime. I am sorry.
I HATE Cancer.
Love,
Donna
Yeah I hate cancer too. Makes me think of the book I am now reading, "The Emperor of All Maladies" which means that cancer really gets to us over centuries but in the last 15 years, progress had been made. Looking forward to have CURE someday.
Blessings,

Lisha, I am so sorry that your sister's bc has returned. I agree that so many things have improved in 8 years. My daughter has done the 3 day 4 years in a row for my sister in law that is 8 years in remission. YOu have your plate full. I am so sorry this is another worry to add to your mind. Just know you are in my prayers . Please take care of you.0 -

Sue,
I finished it a few months ago. I found it to be a very interesting read, especially where the politics of cancer was concerned. I would recommend that it be read by every family who is "touched" by cancer.
Let me know what you all think about it when you are done with it.
