My wife was recently diagnose with Chromophone RCC while she was pregnant. They first induced labor at 34 weeks and then waited a few days to proceed with a radical nephroctomy. The whole ordeal has taken out alot of my wife and myself. The Uriologist said it was Stage 2 with not Mets anywhere and lymph nodes were clean. He said the tumor was 8cm. He also said that the tumor was encased or encapsulated with some type of skin or membrane in the kidney. This has been literally turned my world upside down, but we are fighting. At the moment all is good.

We have a 2 month check up and then a 6 month Scan.

I just looking for advice as to what we should be doing to be more proactive. My life is 29 years old and I'm trying to keep her as long as I can and I have to do my part :)

I have been juicing & blending vegetables w/ fruits. I'm just curious if there is anything else I can do to help with the situation and being that you have done so well, any information would be greatly appreciated. I have read about limiting sodium and protein intake as well.

In terms of treatment, they said none is needed. They said the chest cavity was clear and they also did a ct scan with contrast and did not see any other tumors after the baby was born to see how to proceed. Any information on this whole incident or how to proceed would be greatful for a young father who is scared out of his mind to lose his wife, lover, and best friend.

PS thanks in advance

I have read some great stories here and hopefully I can have something like that happen :)

    So Far, So Good
JQ, Given what you said about the Surgery, the odds are wiih you for a full and complete recovery. Your baby was a miracle baby whose sonogram resulted in the detection of RCC before it becsme large and dangerous. Had that 8 cm tumor grown and metastisized rhe outcome would have been much worse. My surgery was in 8.1.2002 and I am doing fine.

    Best wishes.

    I agree
The fact that it was encapsulated and no mets is all good news. You can expect periodic check ups with the urologist, but other than that, you are good to go! Limit protein so that you don't stress the remaining kidney, and limit sodium to keep blood pressure low. That's it! Life on one kidney is relatively normal. Recovery from the surgery is a slow haul, but you and she have good motivation -- a new baby! Congratulations! Go enjoy that baby!

    What were some things that
What were some things that you two did for energy or to speed up the recovery?

    Do what you can
Do not push the recovery on 2 surgeries. With the Kidney surgery alone it takes 4 to 6 weeks to get up to speed. With the addition of childbirth you are going to have to add some time to the recovery. Do what you can do when you feel able. There is no need to rush the recovery. Daddy can take on a few extra chores in the beginning. After watching Arnold S. in the movie Junior I learned how difficult child birth can be.
