The Latest PET/CT Results
2nd and 3rd opinions suggested getting an MRI, which came up clear. Surgery was postponed with follow up PET/CT scans scheduled to monitor said hot spot.
Yesterday had the follow up PET/CT and went for the news today. No beating around the bush from the ENT doc, with a big smile he said 'You're going to have a very happy birthday Jim, we've got great news!'
And so it is. The hot spot is still there, but has gotten smaller. They are quite sure it is some inflammation, since cancer does not shrink on its own. They will still monitor it closely.
I must thank everyone on this site for all the helpful info I've gathered from here. I probably wouldn't have gotten the 2nd opinions or insisted on the MRI without this site. I wouldn't have known about the possibility of 'false positives'. You've certainly made my path easier.
So today I am 9 months post treatment and things are certainly looking better than just a few short months back. Couldn't ask for a better B-Day present. Cheers
Jimbo

My dad had the same thing happen to him with his scans and we used the information I got from this site. When he went back for the 9 month scan all was clear. I am so happy to hear the same happened for you.
The people on this site are amazing!!!

...not a good combo. Jimbo, I have been off the boards for a bit and decided to check in as I am eating a salad at my desk at work. This is the first post I read, and I literally feel the tears in my eyes and that tightness in my throat that tells me if I were not at work...the tears would just come. This is such good news, and I hate the ride of anxiety we still have to step on regarding this dreaded disease. Mark will be 9 months post treatment on 5/20; and I don't know about you, but it was this time last year that he began the surgery part of his treatment. I remember walking into work and hoping no one would ask me how I was...because just that invitation would break through any composure I was maintianing. I can't believe it was a year ago.
A huge huge congrats on the 9 month mark. A huge huge huge congrats on the "inflammation". And a huge huge huge huge, belated, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Celebrate 50 more!!!
