Tomorrow (FRI) yet again another
I think what I hate the most is I HAVE tiny veins and can only use ONE arm for blood work and IV...so not really bad right?
So tomorrow at this TIME I'll be almost done and find out my next step..

Veins
Hi Denise - I am sending you positive energy your way and the holy spirit as well. You won't be alone, trust me. You're too loved.
About veins, I don't like getting needles either. But what I find help me a lot is to drink A LOT of water because it makes my veins more visible and accessible. And when I say, drink, I mean it! You need to drink 8-10 tall glasses of water the day before (today) and continue drinking through tomorrow. Drink, drink, drink...this helps.
You will be OK. We'll be here for you.0 -

Denise, I will be starting hormone therapy in a couple months. I need to get radiation out of the way first (next month). I know who's brain to pick should I have issues. Can I ask how long the doctor kept you on tamox? I don't know what drug my oncologist will give me yet, but my chemo put me into menopause so I am boarder line between the before menopause and after menopause prescriptions. Well at least if one has side effects I have a second option. LOL
Good luck tomorrow..

I started Tamox Aug 2008 about 2 mths after I finished radiation (ended June 28, 08) I thought no real side effects..other then BAD leg cramps during night on occassion. Night sweats-I had not had A PERIOD for about 2+ yrs prior to surgery! Then just starte bleeding in Jan...for a brief time and then again this month. ALSO main issue is THICKENING OF UTERUS!. I get ultrasound/D & C every six months or less...so far LESS!
I was off tamox for month, saw Dr still had slight bleeding so said to go another month without...so next week back for blood work and back to oncologist to see what my next step is..(MY GYNO and Oncolo do talk on phone-one in Ct & one in NY..)

For that detailed information Denise. I hadn't realized this kind of stuff would be issues, but I guess anytime you mess with our estrogen consequences can happen. I know my Onco said I could be on hormone pills for anywhere from 2-5 years. How are your mood swings should I start preparing my husband? LOL
Thanks for your help and I wish you success tomorrow in finding the right course of treatment. Maybe complete removal? How wonderful that would be...
Good Luck my friend,
Lorrie0 -
I'm sorry you are going
I'm sorry you are going through this, it doesn't sound like any fun. Have you talked with the docs about options other than a D&C? There might be something that is effective, but wouldn't need to be repeated every six months.
Hugs,

Honestly I dont' feel like I have any mood swings...(seriously) I did mention hysterectomy to gyno and he said NO NEED and no sense to do that..
HE did say take whatever my oncologist suggested-I asked his personal trusted opinion!
This could be so much worse so I just go with it..
I have had (not sure of offical name) 2-3 in office (numb whole inside) biospies and all come back ok..but Rad oncoloist said that picks and chose tiny spots and she wants more complete biopsy...aka D & C..
RULE OF THUMB my gyno does not do internal ultrasound when on Tamox..but my oncologist insisted and I THINK she was right..to do so.

Thanks...
Rad oncologist feel D & C much more complete test for cancer-I even inquired about taking everything out but gyno said NO that is crazy for no reason (aka cancer)
I may know more tomorrow...but I AM SURE YET ONE more D & C..should be nothing left with all the biopsies and scrapping they do..

Dr APPT over and KNOW no more now then I did yesterday
I went to my gyno-did the internal ultrasound-we discussed another D & C or another in office biopsy (he is sure NO cancer) or hystertomy (which he felt was not called for) I mentioned my Rad Oncologist last week didn't care for office biospies (due to can miss areas) SO as it stands now:
DR I saw today is contacting an: ONCOLOGIST-GYNOCOLOGIST to get his/her opinion...
I was told to call back next Thursday to see what they both think!

Wow Denise I am so sorry this is becoming such a pain in the butt for you. Well okay maybe your butt is the least painful area. LOL
I am fortunate my Gynecologist, Oncologist, Radiation Oncologist and Plastic Surgeon are all under the same roof. Aurora Baycare Hospital... I have never left this building for treatment anywhere. I know there is a review board that meets each week and our cases get discussed. So my treatment options are based on the boards decision. I sure hope they find a better approach for you my friend. Hopefully that phone call will be placed. Zowie..0 -

Thanks..so much...I lived on boarder of CT & NYS for 15 yrs so MY LONG time Dr/gyno is in Ct as well as surgeon (who now left the practice) MY 2 oncologists both in NYS-they are both in the same building but different practices. (I dont' think they have compared notes other then I have each fax the other test results etc
I LOVE MY GYNO-even though out of the way...(when I first moved I changed to local female gyno and hated her) I TRUST him-(MY LONG TIME GYNO)
so at this point I'll just wait...he does talk in my oncologist as well...
Denise
6 days maybe I"LL KNOW something more..

My friend has bleeding all the time. She has been through pap smears ultrasound(Like what you had) nothing has been found.I went through the ringer with kidney and bladder problems(no female organs)Those tests came back fine but I have kidney stones and a cyst.I know that is probably my reason for a trace of blood. My friend's bleeding and constant bladder infections show Nothing. My urologist said it is common in some women to have bleeding for no reason.
Hope things turn out fine. You are being put through the ringer like I was in Jan-March.Very Stressful.

I am so sorry you are having to go through this, but glad he is pretty sure it's NOT cancer! You are not alone. I have to have a D and C or biopsy now as well, but didn't realize what you said about the biopsy. Thanks for that info.
Good luck to you, prayers and keep us updated!

compadres of the uterus
Well, Denise, you may not realize this, but your story makes me feel better. I just saw my gynecologist for 6 month pelvic & internal ultrasound and, guess what? I need another (my second) polypectomy and D & C. I took my self off Tamoxifen that day. I would be a lot more worried if I didn't have your experiences to compare to.
After rads were over I saw my medical oncologist for the first time. I knew he would put me on Tamoxifen. My rad onc said I shouldn't (not enough benefit of reduction of recurrance vs side effects). My med onc said ultrasounds for uterine thickening were not necessary; only if I began to have vaginal bleeding should I have one. I didn't follow his advice. I had a vaginal ultrasound as I began the Tamoxifen, to have a "baseline". Less than a year later, I had polyps. My gyn removed them. Now, 5 months later, I have more. Her suggested options: have a hysterectomy or stop the Tamoxifen.
I am waiting for cervical biopsy results before proceding with an appointment with the med onc to discuss options (AIs probably). I just had my 6 month visit with him a week before I saw my gynecologist. Sheesh.
Keep sharing what's happening with you. I wish you the best outcomes.

wow, lots in common huh?
I started Tamoxifen Aug 2008 and taken off last month...MY oncologist insisted on internl ultra sounds my long time GYNO said I do not do (rule of thumb) but he said if she insists I will. (and had done 3 of them) said crazy to do 3rd D & C since in there so much + had 3 office biopsies done.
I DO LIKE that he talks to my onologist & calling specialist this week (gyno/onocogist)
