    Fibrinogen
One of the things that our cancer center recently started doing was testing... I think it is fibrinogen. My doctor had already tested me and mine is high (not a good thing). He had only recently had me start taking several things for my inflammatory processes.

I'll be sure to type up a complete list for my first visit to the oncologist. Interestingly, when our other family member first went to the oncologist (with lymphoma) - although they asked for a list of supplements the guy completely dismissed it - saying none of it matters - none is good and none is bad. All he did was rattle off the R-CHOP therapy he was going to give.

    Fibrinogen
Fibrinogen is involved in blood clotting--too much fibrinogen would put a person at risk for increased blood clots. How does the doctor propose to follow up on the increased fibrinogen?

    Supplements
I think what they were measuring was called "D-Dimer Fibrinogen." But don't quote me on that ;-)

In any case, supplements were recommended but I am not sure which ones for that specific thing. I have a other inflammatory issues.

I was recommended a systemic OTC enzyme called Lumbrokinase. But a similar less-expensive one, Nattokinase, would be contraindicated for cancer, so just in case (this was before the pathology results came back), I was told not to take Nattokinase. Lumbrokinase is more expensive.

Other things I was told to take are Fish oil, and Co-Q10.

    Cheaper places to buy supplements
I came across this site, and thought I'd add my experience. I take multiple supplements (including bromelain, Omega 3-6-9, Selenium, GLA, Resveratrol, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Phosphatidyl Serine (100mg) w/ Choline & Inositol, Evening Primrose Oil, silica, Glucosamine & Chondroitin plus MSM, among other things, and soon I'm going to start taking tumeric, as well (recommended to me by a business associate who swears by it).

All these supplements were costing me a fortune! I started buying them from AllStarHealth (.com) a couple years ago and saving a ton of money. I used to buy them at health food stores and was going broke. AllStarHealth saves me at about 50% (huge, considering how many different things I take). They have been extremely reliable, have all the best brands (like Doctor's Best), and shipping is FAST. . . Like I put in an order and have it the next day or day after.
I just thought I'd share this, in case anyone else is "going broke" trying to buy 20 different supplements.

    Going Broke
Thanks for the tip. I am going broke buying supplements. By the way, if you are an ovarian cancer survivor, you may want to reconsider taking the evening primrose oil. My naturopath says it's too estrogenic. She did say I could pop the capsules and use the oil on my skin, and I have to say it is better than any moisturizer I've ever used.

    Back to Turmeric
I use organic turmeric powder in my cooking every day. Use about 1/2-3/4 tsp in the salad dressing along with olive oil and apple cider vinegar. It's very good!
