Today the doctors removed the lymph nodes on the left side of my neck. (hurray)!!!
It went exceedingly well. The Doctor made the comment that the nodes were not grown attached to the surrounding tissue. I am going to take that to mean that the cancer had not grown through the nodes into the adjacent tissue.
Also he was supposed to take biopsis from the inside of my throat, but after prolonged examination of my throat he was well pleased with the way it looked and decided that it would not be nessasary, can you believe that? I have never heard of such, but if he felt that it was unnessassary he must be pretty sure. Again i am taking that as a good sign.
And, since i am not using the peg tube, he removed it during the anisthesia.
Painless for me !!!!! I'll take painless any day.
And now for the icing on the cake, I was kept in recovery for an extended amount of time while they were trying to get a room ready for me. The doctor came back around and told me that since i was doing so well, that if i wanted to i could go home later today. All i had to do was demonstrate that i could swallow comfortably, walk to the batroom on my own, and urinate. My nurse laughed and told him that i had drank several cups of water and was asking if i could get out early already. He smiled and said well as soon as you get back from the restroom i'll sign the order to release you. Needless to say, I was on my way.
So all in all , I had a great day at the hospital. May All you guys have it this good.
