Heartsick-off topic
I've been heartsick since coming last night. I got in a little after midnight from a symphony performance and dessert afterwards. When I checked in on facebook, I saw pictures of total devastation in the county in Virginia that we lived in and love so much to this day. It seems everyone is alive (3 in the next county were killed), but the tornado started in the field next to my dear friend's house. Their place was spared, but so many others are destroyed. The large church just down from their house was run right through by the storm. The sanctuary was split wide open.
I've been in tears since finding out about this. Many people who are so precious to me have been affected. If you are the praying type, please include Deltaville, VA in your prayers.
Thanks so much.
*hugs*

Dear Gail
Will certainly add the folks of Deltaville to the list.
So very many states have been effected by the recent storms.
Glad that all the folks you know from there are ok.
Hugs,

Gail, I am very sorry about all of this happening....AnneCan said:Gail
I am so sorry.
Remember that a church or sanctuary is a place to worship or a place to gather, our God is everywhere, not only in that one place but everywhere. It is a heartfelt loss when people lose homes, churches, and lives, but also look at the other side of this if possible.....He does not only dwell in the sanctuary or church, its a building for all to meet to gather for Him. His people will not let the loss prevent them from being with and gathering with Him. Be glad that all lives there were saved and that only a few were lost in the next county. He will be in the middle of all hurt and misery and also in the middle and rally the rebuilding of another place for all to gather for Him....He is I am....and I know that you know I am...Love to you Tootsie, for being who you are......buzz0 -

Thanks to all of you for the kind words. This is a church that sustained major damage from a fire not that many years ago, and it rose like a phoenix then. I know it will be the same this time. They have worship on the beach in the summer, so that will start soon. I'm very proud that my church (United Methodist)down there has offered the use of our fellowship hall for them to have worship. Our church has a small, colonial sanctuary, so it's not big enough, but the fellowship hall is a new addition. Not sure if they're going with that option or not, but I love the caring and cooperation in a small, close knit community.

So sorry that many of your friends were in harm's way. Hoping that none of your friends were injured or lost their homes. A tornado is so unpredictable. I get nervous for Johnnybegood when this season arrives. She lives out in the country on top of a hill in a tornado prone area. She has been through one already, but was fortunate this time.
Take care,

Your Post Brings Back Memories
We were struck by an F-3 tornado and it destroyed our house and the rest of our neighborhood. We were very lucky to survive it as most of us were at home. In an instant, all that you know has been erased, you have no power, phone lines are down, you are shaken.....and then the fun begins, insurance hassles, contractors trying to steal you blind etc.etc.
All you want is to get your life back - sounds familiar for us here doesn't it?
I remember being grateful to be able to wash my hands and face , and for seeing Red Cross drive up with a hot meal for us. It becomes the extreme litle things at that point. Trying to find some temporary shelter in an apartment or something while you try and rebuild everything in your life....and trying to work F/T on top of that.
Every time I see or hear about a storm like that, it makes me think of where we were and where we are now.....my heart is really for these people and I understand their pain and where they are coming from.
It's a very hard thing to have to deal with - that's how our decade started off as we were hit in 2000 and then cancer followed, you know the rest. I used to tell Kim that the storm was a warm-up for "another storm" that was to follow us - how right I was about that.
I'm sorry that the storm has affected your life - in time it will pass and you will be ok. We just crossed the 11-year mark and I actually forgot the day the storm hit. So, time will help heal. And your folks will be in good hands with the service organizations that assist during a time like this....one of the reasons we donate to them when we can, they perform such a good service when you are down.
