Worried about John
Steve and I just watched on the news showing the tornado damage in the Carolina's. John lives 14 miles east of Fayetteville N.C. Sure hope he checks in to let us know if he's ok. The whole area around where he lives looks to be having severe storms with tornado warnings and touch downs. Last report said 19 killed. If his power is out he wouldn't be able to contact us. I am concerned. Just thought I'd say something...saying my prayers..Sue

Severe weather advisory for Fayetteville... tornado watch until 9:00 p.m eastern time. I've been tracking the worst hit area's and it looks like Wake county got the brunt of it. Thats in the Northern section...John lives in the South Eastern part..I think Cumberland County. We indeed need to keep him in our prayers. The power could be out throughout most of the counties, so we may not hear from him. It's 8:15 there right now. Thinking good thoughts for you John!..Sue0 -

I was on my toes alright. Kept looking out the window for any black funnel clouds whirling around. Didn't have any electric so could not hear the news. The wind was not that bad, maybe 40mph,but from what I hear it doesn't have to be for a tornado to form.Of course if you watch the Wizard of Oz or Twister its just the opposite. Oh, the dramatics of Hollywood. I have known people that have been thru Hurricanes and tornadoes and they all say it a dead calm just before the tornado forms. They actually form in a vacuum and when they begin to spin the dangerous part is the tail and there is no way to tell which way they will go. They all said they sound like a freight train moving at high speed. Now, that is scary as hell.0 -

Lisha,
I am glad you don't have to put up with these tornadoes. All you have is those little things called earthquakes.LOL .John(FNHL-1-4A-5/10)
I'd rather have the warning with Tornado's than the shaking me out bed at night earthquakes.
Course, I live in Kansas....home of the tornado. So far this season hasn't been too bad but it's not over yet either. Seems to be nailing oklahoma and south east.
Glad you are ok John. I hate worrying about people.0 -

Beth,
Thats not fair, after all you live in Kansas and They are known for their tornadoes. Sit tight they will be around. Then you can thumb your nose at those other states for trying to steal your tornadoes. LOL. John
Flat lands are known for them and the NC area is also a flatland0 -

John,
Please get to the store and buy a crank emergency radio/flashlight/alarm combo! You've gotta hear what's going on in an emergency. Maybe I'm just a chicken, not the rotisserie kind! Kellie0 -

Hey John,
After growing up in Minnesota with the tornados I much prefer being in earthquake country.
It's quite an experience, remember one of my first in the building where I worked in SF. It was a high rise, 27th floor. The building didn't tremble but swayed from side to side, as it was built to do. The pencil on my desk rolled back and forth. Windows can pop out, also as they were built to do. I almost peed in my pants.
Glad you are all safe.

Hi John,
I'll take earthquakes any day. The only time that I was scared of one , was the Loma Prieta in 89. I wasn't scared of the earthquake, but that fact that my oldest daughter and youngest daughter were not at home with us. The oldest was with a friend at the park near the friends. Had no way to contact her for many hours. She was 13 at the time, The youngest was only 7, she was not even in the same city as us, she was at a birthday party playing mini golf. I was so scared until I had them both safely home with us. They didn't seem scared at all. Kids...
Give me an earthquake any day!

He's a good boy. Likes to be bathed and groomed. Best of all, he's super cuddly. My other cat is grey/black and has an independent personality. When I was first diagnosed, my Onco said that I needed to get rid of my bird (a love bird, named Bob) Bob's living with a good friend of mine. Birds are so sensitive to moves. I hate to move him back with me and then need to re-home him back to Kathy's house. I miss him terribly. While I was receiving chemotherapy, my lab results dictated if I could spend time really loving on my cats or could just play with them but, not touch them. I felt like such a traitor. I don't think I could have gotten through all of this cancer crap if I didn't have my pets with me. They are therapeutic! Kellie0
