Another all clear, well kinda
Saw the scope master today and got the all clear! But, he said my tongue looked too thick at the back. So here we go again for a Panendoscopy to "look around", and if needed do some biopsies. He said my scan lit up at a 4, so he just wants to make sure. Yeah O.K. He also said my anxiety level about this should be ZERO. Again Yeah O.K. The blessed event happens the day after Easter, so I won't worry a bit. Thanks again for all your responses, I think I might try the Yoga and see if it helps.
Best,
Steve

I live in the "Kinda Camp"
Steve I just stay in the "kinda clear camp" as every time I get a cat scan they find something new and wonderfully suspicious. Got almost the same reaction from my ENT last time around, "The chances of this nodule being cancer are next to zero". They try and help us but nothing can really stop the mind from chasing pirates because you never really catch them and just go round and round.
Honestly, Yoga has saved my sanity. I'm a big strong masculine type but the yoga poses really help if you give them a chance. The stretch tights are a huge plus to! Try and find a restoritive type yoga practice DVD you can try out at home. Light a scented candle and let yourself go. At least you will control the next 30-40 minutes of your life this way. Tai Chi is wonderful too but I get a little more from the yoga as it has a small element of exercise and really helps with the neck and head. For what it's worth I'm positive the whole inside of my mouth is bigger and thicker than it used to be including the tongue. Hoping you laughed picturing the tights!0 -

Steve,
Yeah that sounds easier said than done, but hang in there Bud. Your doc has been right this whole time. He will be this time also about that zero anxiety so everything should be cool. I'm doing the TaiChi thing myself. My instructor is more into the martial arts part of it so I get a pretty good workout with it besides the calming effects. Positive thoughts headed your way!
Greg
PS- I think I'll now be having nightmares every night, seeing Rat sitting in the lotus position with some pink tights on - Yikes!0 -
It's not the size of the tongue that counts
Congratulations Steve! That sounds like pretty good news. Yoga has been huge during and post treatment for me; anxiety, pain, muscle toning. Check out "Light on Yoga" by BKS Iyengar. Slow, focused poses with good breathing techniques. The tights are optional of course but a picture of Ratface in a pair would be awesome to see. Or maybe not. Namaste Brother.

All Clear
Hi, Steve. Yeah, isn't it great when somebody says "Don't worry about it....it will be fine?" That sure is easy to say and it sure is hard (if not impossible) to do when you are the one in the hot seat. But, it sure sounds like the latest problem should be okay. Best wishes and prayers with you. Beat this thing and continue to beat it until it taps out. Hey, this is the big "C", so continue to beat it even if it does tap out.

Keep us posted, Steve. I will also give the thumbs up to the slow and gentle vinyassa style yoga. It really helps. I need to find another class, as the studio I was taking it closed.0 -

If your ENT says not to worry, then it just might not be a thing, Steve. Could be he's got his eyes on a 2012 Porsche, with all the extras, and that means cha-ching. Have known ENTs who can be like that. "All clear," stands alone as the result. Tongue being thick- sounds like the rads, and an opinion that is just doing overkill on precaution, which is not all bad. Hope and Prayers for you that all really is clear, Steve.

I'm hoping they are erring on the side of caution and it turns out to be no big deal. What kind of scan did you have? Cheers

I know how difficult the waiting can be! However, when they tell me not to worry I don't! Hang in there!

Steve in tights.
Tights... Gotta love the imagery... I'm thinking it's not so functional for bricklaying, but you doing the yoga poses could be kinda cute. I concur with the others, on the feeling that everything in my mouth and throat is thicker. My Stanford doc always scopes me and describes it as "a resolved fullness at the base of the tongue..." I'm thinking the level-4 activity there is still healing. Holding good thoughts for you through Easter and beyond. Try to stay calm. And, if not, we'll always have beer. Love ya.

That part about the scented candle and letting yourself go... Works for me every time. Give it a shot.

Just like that, Steve, Deb gives you a viable possibility, compliments of none other than Stanford! Doubt if any of us are much the same, inside, post-treatment. Know my ENT has told me of untypical sights in my throat, but that such is typical for us. And that means you're still chalked-up as an April success, though you still might get disqualified for the "tights" thing!

We'll Take It
"All Clear" sounds good to me. Yeah, doc "YOUR" anxiety level should be zero - "MY" anxiety level is a little elevated. Here's hoping the Panendoscopy (what goes on with that?) is boring.
I do a little yoga - love it. Even though I cannot possibly hold downward dog as long as my instructor, who is at least 20 years older. Shoulder still not right from dissection - oh well.0 -

Keep the faith about the thick tongue. My ENT said mine is thick but symmetrical, which is more important. Doc's don't say don't worry ofter, so when they do, try to follow directions!
Keep up the posting, always good to hear from you...How's things in Texas?

You are starting to remind me of me, I been lighting us things for 6 years now. If I learned anything about this stuff it is not to worry until the doctor tells you to worry. Take care and keep positive my brother.

Just wanted to thank everyone for the responses, well wishes and prayers. But Steve in tights just is not going to happen Deb, sorry. And something tells me ratface doesn't wear tights either. I will start thinking symmetrically only. My tongue is large but symmetrical,
my tongue is large but--------.
Best to all,

Medical Code
Doctors and dentists have their code, don't they. But they use the code words too often; so we, the patients, figure out what they really mean. My favorite doctor/dentist code is "You will feel a little pressure", which translates to "Don't Scream!"
Well, the real bottom line is that medicine has many treatment options to fight the beast. But I hope the beast is nowhere to be seen for you; for all of us.0
