Can anyone advise as to the difference between a J tube and a PEG tube. I know that a Jtube is inserted in the small intestine and Peg in the stomach, but as to which one should be done I am not sure. Our hometown doctor is wanting to put a PEG tube in. Rickie is continuing to lose weight and he (rickie) is finally considering it. I know it seems every time I read about a feeding tube here it is a being stage IV we are not looking at surgery, so perhaps that is the reason for the PEG tube. Any advice?

You want a j-tube. It will
You want a j-tube. It will keep you healthy as long as you need it. You will have difficulty eating enough calories a day following surgery. Also, some people get so sick during chemo.

A g-tube is actually the tube used in the stomach. J is intestine. There are some minor inconveniences with the tube, but for a varitety of reasons, I still maintain one after 4 years. I have had a couple placemets, but this keeps my weight up.

    Best wishes,
