Anxiety!! Waiting for my next scan

in Colorectal Cancer #1
Hey everyone! Just joined today. I was diagnosed with a 22.5 cm mature teratoma (non-cancerous) that had an adenocarcinoma tumor capsulated inside. It was surgically removed 11/30/10 from the retroperitoneal area. After many opinions, it was decided that I did not need furtehr treatment. Many factors went in to this decision. So my next scan is at the end of May and my anxiety has kicked in big time!

It has been a crazy 6 months! Had a baby in September 2010 then had to have surgery when she was only 8 weeks old. I am only 31 years old.

How does everyone else deal with the anxiety of waiting for your next scan? Anyone else not receive any treatment and just get scans every 3 months? Would love to hear what you were diagnosed with:)

    With the help and encouragement of the board here, family and friends. No wants it back, so run, scream, come here, whatever makes you feel better, just keep pressing on.

    Its awesome that you didn't need any further treatment. Hope it continues that way for you.

    I hope you find this to be a very useful place to visit; I sure do! Scans seem to be a stresser for many; I wish I had the magic answer on that one! I am still in active treatment (irinotecan + erbitux).

    In My Humble Opinion..............
    I would think that "encapsulated" would be a key word that I would hone in on...Thats the key to not needing to worry as much.....buzz

    Thanks Buzz! I defnitely needed to hear that today. It is just still so scary. I think when you hear the word "cancer", the anxiety starts regardless of diagnosis, stage etc. I thank God everyday that it stayed "encapsulated" and that it was found when it was!
