Treatment is finished....time for reconstruction, how important is the look of your new foobs?????

I had my 1 month post-op appt on Monday. My PS thinks my new girls look great, I on the other hand think I would like a small tweek or two. He suggested we wait.
The way they look is important to me, or do I have unrealistic expectations?

On a scale of 1-10 how important is the look of your new foobs??

    For me REALLY important! My PS suggested that it could be a year before the girls settle firmly into their new homes, so I will wait that long, but if they don't look better than they do now I will insist on a 'tweeking' them!

    I also haven't yet discussed with him the nipple issue. I figure I can't really do anything about nips until I know where the girls end up. :(

    VERY important to me! I had a great rack before this happened to me! My PS told me I wouldn't have final results for at least 5-6 months after my exchange surgery and he was right. I had fat grafting done a few months back that REALLY made a huge difference in the appearance-one of my breasts had a flat spot on it due to my mastectomy scar. The grafting not only plumped out the flat spot, but my PS also injected some into my other breast, giving both of them more projection. I'm having my nipples reconstructed this Wednesday (FINALLY-for those of you who have been on here for a while & know how many times my nipple reconstruction has been pushed back!). A few months after that, I'm getting my tattoos done, but by my tattoo artist, not the PS. At the PS, they basically just shade the color in. My tattoo guy can make them look like real areolas, and as with all of my other tattoos - i've only gone to the best for my artwork, i'm not going to get less than perfect nipple tattooes either!

    There would have been no point in me going through an extremely long surgery and a long recovery period if my build-a-boob and the real one don't look good.

    Extremely important!
    I have a lumpectomy on one side and a mastectomy on the other side. The lumpectomy side cannot be altered due to lymphedema issues. I waited 2 years before I had the mast. side reconstructed (expander & implant). After the surgery I was happy to have cleavage and a mound but not pleased with the way it shifted under my underarm when I laid down resulting in a flat area on my chest. In addition I had a pointed area on the right side where the scar was, not at all attractive. I waited 18 months and went back in to have the nipple constructed and the pocket the implant sits in secured, the pointed area removed and a graft made around the new nipple to create the areola. It has taken 3 surgeries and 2 years but I am finally pleased with how it looks as is my husband, he has made the comment that he had no idea it would look so natural (YEAH!)

    I had my remaining breast lifted and am not happy with the work at all. Their is a big scar that I wasn't expecting. My fiance says it looks o.k. but I don't want to look o.k., I want to look great!!! My surgery was only 2 weeks ago so I will wait a little bit to see if it looks better with time.

    Very important I'd say. Unfortunately, what I want and get are two different things. I've had a large bruise ever since the expander/implant exchange. My PS still is on maternity leave and won't be back for another month still.

    The reconstructed one is placed in exactly the correct area but is smaller. Much smaller, and it causes my bras to be skewed which in turn causes my tops to be skewed and I'm constantly having to tug down one side so it doesn't look like a 3 year old dressed me!

    Well said ;-)

    What I want and get are two different things, but I'm going to continue to try to get it or as close to it as I can! With that being said I think we all have to make up our minds in advance how many times we are willing to have surgery for that perfect look.

    Well said...on how many
    Well said...on how many times are you willing to go thru surgery for the look you want. Over all i was pretty happy with mine until one dropped to far and now im going to probably have surgery again cuz its a little painful...if it wasnt for that i would probably leave it the way it is.

    Surgery - No Time Soon
    Although I will probaby do a nip build, areola tat and a "tweak" of the remaining breast, it will not be any time soon. The thought of being cut again and having to heal is too overwhelming right now. My PS said that I could actually have surgery about five months after my mastectomy and rebuild, but I don't think so. I think it's the thought of those drains coming out of my body that still makes me cringe. I am willing to go through some things to get to a better looking chest area, but right now I am surgery skittish. Can't do it!
