Shoulder Problems

I was dx with EC in October 2009 and had surgery in February 2010--stage III. I am 55 years old and female. I've been having shoulder pain and limited range of motion since December. Tried cortisone, both the pack and the injection. Also tried physical therapy. Nothing worked. Having had EC, I was of course worried about possibly having mets to the bone. I finally had an MRI last Friday and just got the results. I'm very thankful that it's not the cancer, but I found I have a rotator cuff tear with impingement. Was told that I'm probably facing surgery. Of course I didn't want to hear that, but as I said, I'm very thankful it's not cancer.
I had the Ivor Lewis surgery and wondered if this was possibly a result of that. Remember that I was basically cut across my shoulder blade in the back. Then I lifted weights as soon as the doctor cleared me to, in order to try to regain my strength.
I noticed where some people had hip problems. I wondered if anyone else has had the shoulder problems.
By the way, I took my ECAN kit to work and posted the posters and spread the word. Today, another teacher came up to me and said he was going to get checked because he suffers from a lot of acid reflux. Yeah--maybe I've helped at least one person!

    ECAN kit
Good work. What is the ECAN kit. I have some car magnets for esophageal cancer awareness that I bought from the Esophageal Cancer Awareness Organization. If one person gets helped, it is one less person to have to undergo this terrible disease.

    ECAN
When I learned that TN had declared April as esophageal cancer awareness month, I went to the ECAN web site, http://www.ecan.org/site/PageServer?pagename=home, and ordered a kit that included posters, brochures, and arm bands. I took it to work and posted everything in the teacher's lounge and in my room. I even told each of my classes about it. I figure if I can spread the word, I will. Being an EC survivor, I am definitely an advocate for the awareness. I'm not sure where you are from--I've often wondered because of the ky in your name. I'm from KY originally.
