Announcing Colon Palooza 9
Suzannchili, this years coordinator, is a teacher and is up to her eyeballs in the serious yearly testing so she asked me to let everyone the dates, hotel, and rates she has gotten us for our annual Palooza.
Dates: Thursday October 13th - Sunday October 16th, 2011
Location: Embassy Suites Downtown Chicago.
The negotiated block or room rate is $209 for a king suite and $239 for a double suite each night. The weekends before and after our event are $329 per night so Suzann did a great job.
When Suzann gets finished with with the testing, there will be more about the actual agenda and things to do but right now, a boat ride out of Navy Pier, a tour of Wrigley Field, and several other things are being looked into. More on that later.
There are only 15 rooms blocked so book early if you want to get the great rate! To book a room;
call 1-800-362-2779 with the event name of CP9. To get the rate, the rooms need to be booked by August 1st.
For those that don't know what a Palooza is. It is an annual semi-colon celebration of life and lives open to all semi-colons, their caregivers, families, and friends. Everyone is welcome. This is our 9th one and being able to meet so many people in one place that have gone thought, felt, and experienced the same things you have is amazing therapy!
Block your calendar, book your room quickly and look for more info down the road.
Thanks Suzann!!!!
Lisa P.
FYI, the rate is good if people want to come early or stay later also!

Sounds like fun.
Hi Lisa,
This sure does sound like a weekend of healing being with a bunch of people from this incredible site. Probably something I could really use after just having finished my chemo. How many people usually attend. Do most bring spouses or signifiant others or solo?

October
It's cold in Ohio in October. So what is the weather going to be in the Windy City that time of year? I was looking forward to it, but not if I've got to be freezing.0 -

The average for the month of October is 65 degrees but since it is right after the "harvest moon" (the full moon in October that is so bright with such slim rain chances, farmers can pick crops at night) our chances of good weather are pretty good. This past year it was 78 and 80 the same weekend.
For some reason we have always had really beautiful weather for the Paloozas and I expect this year to be the same. If the weather should be bad, check out the hotel's atruim! Lots of space to hang out and laugh in, there is a grocery store/deli right across the street. Free hot breakfast every morning and a 5-7 free happy hour every evening. There is a restaurant in the hotel with many others within safe walking distance.
Plus all the rooms are suites with sitting rooms in them.
Hopefully some of the locals can chime in................0 -

The first one only had 4 but we've had as many as 30. With so many people within driving distance this one could be our biggest ever!
And yes people bring spouses, it's really up to each individual. Some join up and share rooms to save money. Some bring friends, parents, we've had widows come too. Everyone is welcome.
Tom it is a great time and you will laugh so much your sides will ache. Semi-colons, their families and friends have wonderful senses of humor and they all seem to come out at the paloozas! Yeah we talk about cancer some but one of the cool things about the event is that several times over the weekend hours will pass and you will not think about cancer for one single moment. Kind of like a mental and emotional vacation!0 -

Looking forward to a great time with good friends.... Checking out flights now with Air Canada hoping to get everything booked in a few days.
Suzann, the Naughty Award that you won in San Francisco ( CP6 ) is here at our place. I will be sure to bring it to Chicago for this year's winning recipient.
Cheers,

Called the hotel directly vs. calling the toll 1-800 number .
If anyone is staying extra nights be sure and mention that it is also at the negotiated rate.
