My personal opinion is that this winter has been rough for everyone and that all over the world people are suffering from cabin fever. I have been taking several days off work to cram some spirituality into my life.0 -

We do it differently downunder.
We PRAY just before dinner.
Then we EAT dinner.
Then we LOVE and sleep.
Try it our way for a change. I hope this is not too argumentitive or trivial LOL
Lovely post and replies kathy, christine and ketziah

I seem to come on after the offending period so not sure what the latest issue was. If the post that I choose to read is offending to me or making me angry in any way then I get out of it and try to find one that is more positive. I came on this site to learn more about treatments, gain knowledge and learn from others experiences. A healthy discussion is good, when it becomes angry or insulting it is time to go on to something else. Let it go - time is too short for negativity
Hugs to you Friend

Thank's for bringing the people here back to the reason we all came here....to find support and comfort in the common interest we share and brighten others days if possible. And all that good stuff...lol

I pretty much do what you do Shanna. I keep my opinions to myself most times, and look for positive post's but there are people here who need to feel "smarter than the average bear" and maybe they are, But there is no need to debate everything that someone post's jump on the net and find info to argue a point. Overall I am happy with what I learn here and the friends that I have made. The know it all's ?? let em know who cares!!! I'm looking for peace of mind not a debate. Just sayin..............

I knew some of you were still out there! I don't want to leave, trust me on that. I need you all to much to do so!
Life is too damn short and we all know this too well. So I don't care what religion you practice, what kind of alternative meds you try or any of the other things that make us human and different! We share one goal and that is to feel better, get better and just hang on to whatever time we have left!

Graci,
thank you for the kind words. My dog is named Max. He joined our family non valetines day this year. We had lost our 14 year old dog last May and the time had come to add a new addtition to our home. Max needed a home and he is the best dog ever. He is trained, listens to comands, does not get on furniture, which is a great thing as he weighs 117 pounds! He is just a gentle giant, so loving. I am thrilled we decided to add another pet to our lives!0 -
Kathy:
Thank you for sharing this. I could not agree more. I so value everyone's input on stuff, both mainstream and alternative, and I have learned so very, very much. In fact, reading the alternative stuff has helped me get George's diarrhea under control without a mountain of pills. Little changes really do work.
What I do find annoying is religious preaching and bible quoting, there is a special forum for that. I deeply believe in the power of prayer and in fact have asked a special friend on this forum to send up a few extras but coming on here with bible verses, well, this is just not the place.
Also, if there is a problem on facebook or something please don't bring it here, most of us don't know what you are talking about. Settle your differences on facebook or through a private pm.
Continued health to all and keep the ideas, sharing of information coming.

Thanks Kathy for your post
I've made some great friends through this board. I've been a part of folk's life and they mine. I've shared in the ups and downs; the heartbreaks and the joys; the fears and the courage. When I've been scared you've rallied behind me. When I've needed info you've shared your experiences with me. We've laughed a lot too!. More than any other community I'm involved with, you "get" what my life is like living with cancer, and you support me living until I die. Not many people actually want to talk about that because it is can be so heartbreaking, though I have found it liberating as well. I am so grateful for you all!
I agree with lots of the comments above about just moving on and focusing on what's valuable here (I'm gonna steal the phrase about the fun in dysfunctional! LOL). Living outside for so much of my life in many kinds of weather conditions I've learned to hunker down when the storm is raging.
all the best, Leslie0 -

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who either comes on here when there's no fight, or just happen to be able to evaluate the topics by the title, so I, so far, never ever opened a thread where people were arguing, or fighting. Or maybe I'm just insensitive and not capable of seeing when people argue? I guess that shall work to my advantage then...:)0 -
Actually, I think that posts
Actually, I think that posts like this, talking about ATTACKING and fighting, and how one has to distance themselves, only makes a newbie, think "What? All they do is fight, attack one another and then people have to distance themselves"?
Usually the argument is long over, or the posts are removed by the starter of the thread out of concern that it went in the wrong direction. Then posts such as this one only perpetuate that there was an argument.
And as always, religion and politics is what starts arguments. Which is why we try to avoid them on this forum. Facebook, is a great place for religious or political beliefs, just not here.
So let's end these type of threads shall we, the ones that accuse people of attacking one another? Like this one? It probably just scares a new person right off the forum.
As you can tell from reading posts on this thread, there are many that don't even know about an attack, including me actually, I didn't see anyone ATTACKING anyone, which just shows a thread such as this is perpetuating a bad thing that may or may not have happened depending on the thread starter's idea of an attack or fight or whatever it was that started this thread.0 -

Your right a poor newbie would get frightened off by certain threads, heck not just a newbie some of us oldies me included. I'm sorry if I've brought certain problems on here that have happened on facebook, but the members are members of this board and I don't want to lose them because of silly misunderstandings. But for certain members I have learnt they are not what they seem, so I'm not going into that.
Kathy thank you for starting this thread hugs.0 -
Agree
I am a recent returner to this site having used it a lot 7 years ago with my original diagnosis and am familiary with what you describe as it has always been a part of these boards.
I do think there is something core about where we all sit in the world that is going to lead to differences of opinion. Many here face a very uncertain future and are using all forms of treatment to help them through that. Science has its role and its limitations so even those on conventinal treatments are working around the edges of what is known especially when standard treatments have failed. We all feel the desparation to survive and with that comes the strong emotions. Hence I see discussions slip into disargreements and into arguments. The core of it is necessary (the fact that that there there different ways to deal with the reasons why we are here) the rest is a sad reflection of all our desparation.
so, I agree with your sentiment but I do feel strength of feeling, differing opinions, desparation and all that arises from this mix is part of what this board is about.
Hard to tolerate at times but we are all facing the intolerable!
Just my thoughts....no answers sorry.

I am very new here; and never, EVER meant to offend anybody or cause any harm anywhere on these boards.
I am very playful by nature, and so if I offended, it was not meant to hurt, but I guess I have a wacky sense of humor (asparagus thread - I just saw what Brooks wrote as being hysterical, and imagined a green colored ointment). It was meant to be funny; as I saw it that way, and not to denigrate anyone's opinion on Alternative Treatments. My opinion on AM is "go for it". I am a strong proponent of massage therapy, so learning new stuff is certainly appreciated from all you folks.
I have been so afraid of posting anything now, because I don't want to be "seen" as negative or "bad". What we're all facing is Bad Enuff!!
I also don't want to come off as "lecturing" or anything of that matter, and certainly I don't want to be a "know it all" 'cause I have lived long enough to know that truly I do know nothing just a wee bit here and there. On the otherhand, my background is strong in science and I have since seen posts that I would like to respond to (eg. the c-met question of Gail's) but now I am very hesitant to say anything at all but just lurk.
So, my appologies to Kathy (with cute Max)if I was the offender. She should not leave because of me.
Thanks again Herdizziness for your opinion.0 -

As one who has deleted such threads, and probably has been seen as a "know it all" (isn't that a kind of attack?), I have to agree that this topic serves to chase more away.
My brother is one who cannot comfortably discuss politics, religion or any other subject where there may be disagreement, and he often sees folks having a serious, polite discussion of issues as attacking. OTH, I have good friends whom I differ with on many issues and we often discuss them with both parties walking away having enjoyed the banter. Whether or not one or the other changes their mind, it helps all involved to understand how we think and what drives us.
Tone is an issue, but the tone I may hear in my head as I write can be completely different from the tone you hear in yours as you read.
Neither religion or politics has a place on this board, but there are points of disagreement and there is no purpose to this forum if there is just one side. As long as it is friendly, those points should be allowed. If we feel someone is crossing the line to personal, well, the T&C's cover that and the board is moderated. The one attack that I remember was from a nut-job that was quickly banned, and that thread was not up for more than a few hours, so the moderator does a great job.
Love and health to everyone,
Blake0
