Great news
Danielle, this is great news that you grandpa only lost ten pounds and had minimal side effects. He is my husband's age and Jim had a much more difficult time. Even though food doesn't taste good it is helpful to have his favorites cooked and try to get him to pack on some extra weight. He will lose weight with the surgery and then afterwards, even with the feeding tube. Jim is still struggling to keep weight on and we are almost three months out.
I pray his petscan results are good and surgery is a go.

Thanks! Still waiting for the insurance to ok Dr. Luketich. Is it typical in the MIE to just remove a portion of the Esophagus, or the esophagus and part of the stomach. I've read different reports and wondering how others on the site were done. My grandpas was found at the base of the eso. at the junction. trying to get a list of questions ready for hopefully Dr.Luketich. And trying to get as much info on the surgery so we are prepared for that as well as what to expect after its over. Thank you everyone for all of your help! It has really kept me grounded throughout all of this!0 -

I can never thank you enough for EVERYTHING!! Even though we've never met you have really been my rock through all of this. My family are not people to ask many questions or give others their opinion, I on the other hand am the total opposite. It has made it very difficult to ask any questions or give my opinions or suggestions without a fight. I feel it neccesary to ask questions and to do as much research possible. With you and others on this site I owe my sanity(or at least whats left of it, I teach and also have 2 young children at home LOL!!)
Correct me if I'm wrong but my grandpa should have his scans done around April 13th then surgery about the first week in May. I am going to push for answers on Monday until I get them! Again thank you!!0 -
