Would love extra prayers this week - dad finds out if operable or not

If you have extra prayers to give we would appreciate them this week.
My dad finished his chemo/radiation a couple of weeks ago and has a CT scan this afternoon. We will meet with the surgeon on Friday and will find out of he will be able to perform surgery on him. Please pray the answer is yes!

An update on him otherwise - after a VERY rough week in the hospital 2 weeks ago, he is doing much better. His hospitalization was due to critically low blood counts. Since he has been home he has been gaining strength, and feeling a little bit more like himself. He still experiences pain when swallowing, lack of taste buds and appetite but the J-tube helps with that.

Thanks in advance for thinking of us and your prayers!

    Dana,

I will pray for your father. I am in the same boat right now. My dad is still in the process of being diagnosed for staging. They think he is stage 3, but have to do a PET scan to make sure there wasn't any more spreading.

    thoughts & prayers with you...
    Dana
Prayers that he keeps on this getting stronger path and that he may be a candidate for surgery.... but I think (maybe others can post on this as well?) that it is important to him know that there are treatments for stage 4 as well. SO no matter what the results, there are viable treatment options. You wouldn't want him to totally be discouraged or "give up" if they do not recommend surgery.
    Hang in there...

    Prayers coming your way!!
    Dana,

You can be sure that your Dad will be in my prayers this week. I am glad to hear he is back home from the hospital. Blood counts are always an issue with chemotherapy. As is fatigue.

Waiting for the scan results is always difficult. I will be praying the results indicate that your Dad is a candidate for surgery.

You make a good point about remembering there are options for a Stage 4 diagnosis as well.
We will keep that in our thoughts should the news turn that direction.

    Thank you William
Thanks for your prayers William. I hope that my dad can have the same success story you have had some day. I think of you often when I think of what I hope works out for my dad and often reference your story to him and others in my family.

The surgeon would be Dr. Mark Ferguson at the University of Chicago. And yes, it will be MIE. His info if curious: http://www.uchospitals.edu/physicians/mark-ferguson.html

Will keep you posted, and thanks again for the prayers and constant support and advice.

    Always have extra prayers
I was thinking about your and your Dad this week and wondering how he was doing.

My prayers will be added to all the others that the chemo and radiation erradicated the cancer and he'll be able to have surgery. Now he needs to rest and get strength back so he can do the surgery with good results.

    Praying for your dad
Dana, you can count on our prayers for your dad. My husband went through the same process with hospitalization due to low blood counts. It is frightening. We will pray that the chemotherapy has done it's job as well as the radiation.

Standing in Agreement with Everyone Before the Lord
Hi Dana. I love and trust the good Lord, but am not spared anxiety watching my family members suffering through trials. My husband has EC and we're going thru that now, waiting for an opportunity for surgery with Dr. Luketich in Pittsburgh. I am waiting for an answer too, you're not alone. My dad has Parkinson's disease and I'm very involved with his treatment and go with him to his appointments. So I understand where you are and love you and care about you even though I don't know you personally. It's the way I feel about everyone I meet through reading their posts. In Mathew 18:19, Jesus says, Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. With that being said, I know there are more than two of us standing in agreement. During my lunch break at work, a few of us meet to have Bible study. We will pray in faith for your dad today for a "YES!!!" and for complete healing. With God, all things are possible. May God glorify His name and demonstrate his power in healing your father. We'll also pray a river of peace for you until Friday. God Bless u & Keep you and your family.

    Praying for good test
Praying for good test results! Now that the chmo/radiation is over, I pray energy will return and he can build strength before surgery. I had a couple of very good weeks before my surgery. It was a very welcome change! Let us know plans on Friday,

    Prayers are Coming
I know how hard it is waiting. Just keep thinking positively. No matter what the outcome of the tests, God will walk through your journey with you. It won't be easy, but with His help, you can do it!

Will be praying for positive results and strength for your family.

    Blessings,
    Sally
