Hi Ann My eyes ran like
Hi Ann My eyes ran like the bathtub faucet during chemo and more so after my lashes fell out. I think this is a pretty normal side effect. I didn't do anything but let them run, maybe some other warriors have a tip or two to pass along.

Teary eyes
Hi Ann,
Oh my goodness, YES. I most certainly did and still do have watery eyes. I have often described them as running like a faucet. I had 4 rounds of A/C and 12 rounds of Taxotere. It is the Taxotere that did me in. I finished chemo in August 2010 and my eyes are still watery. My oncologist said it is a common side effect of Taxotere and it will eventually go away. He did not, however, venture a guess as to WHEN it will go away. It got so bothersome that I even went to visit an opthamologist. He said my tear ducts are functioning normally (Taxotere can apparently damage the ducts) and that the watery eyes are "a well known side effect of Taxotere." Great. He prescribed some eye drops called Lotemax that did absolutely no good whatsoever. He did not really think that they would but was willing to give it a try. You are right when you said,"everyday is something new." IRENE0 -
I complained of teary eyes
I complained of teary eyes at my last A/C treatment. The Nurse said it was probably due to an allergy. My Dr said it was due to lash loss and to buy artificial tears. They worked great and then my first round of taxotere, both eyes are itchy & red, drops dont seem to work. I think everythings dry! I told my husband last night that I have eye drops, nose drops, mouth drops, & butt drops! Its always something new for sure! Renee0 -
For me, lashes didn't seemcahjah75 said:Ann
my eyes did the same thing. Only having a few eyelashes left, my eyes would tear all the time. Several times while lying on the table for rads I could feel the tears flowing down the side of my face. Now that my lashes are back the problem went away.

For me, lashes didn't seem to have anything to with the 'spigot'. I only lost about 1/2 of lashes with A/C and the spigot was always turned on full force (without the drops). With Taxol, I lost the last of lashes (well the last of ALL hair) but had no tearing problems at all. Just how different we all are.

That's why I love this CSN website. We gain so much info from each other.
I, too, have teary eyes since I started chemo (Taxotere). I didn't make the connection of teary eyes=chemo but thanks to you all, I now understand.
Usually it's my right eye, that's where most of my eyelashes fell out. I still have the lashes on my left eye.0 -
Tazotere
Tax was the culprit for me. Thye warned of itchy eyes and boy did mine ever start. I didn't lose my eyelashes until half way through the Tax but the itchy watery eyes started before that. I used eye drops suggested by my eye doctor, and approved by my oncologist, for itchy eyes that I get in teh spring allergy season.0
