Thanks for asking. You are always so sweet and kind.
I have been very busy as you know with my son and so my health priorities have been shifted a bit. He didn't do well with the eye surgery and they couldn't get him to breath on his own after surgery. He was left on the ventilator for hours and required suctioing of his lungs to get him to finally breath. He has been hospitalized and treated with IV anitbiotics. Because of his low immune system he doesn't give off all the warning signals that most people do when he is sick so it wasn't apparent that he was suffering again from the MRSA in his lungs. He is doing better and I am hoping to spring him from the hospital today. The eye was a mess. The surgeon said that his retina looked like swiss cheese as an infection had gotten into his eye and had eaten away at the retina. He will not recover his sight. We are still awaiting cultures from the surgery to find out what type of infection we are dealing with.
I have my visit with the onc on Thursday and will ask for the results of all my scans. Unfortunately, my county insurance has run out so I didn't have my colonoscopy and am still working on seeing about getting my insurance reinstated so that we can continue on with tests and/or treatment. In the meantime, after many months of no income, I have run out of funds for all of this and decided to put it in the powers that be hands and have been searching deligently for a job. I figure that way I have more than one ball in the air and whichever happens first ... job or insurance .. I will take the opportunity and run with it. It's been a difficult time. I am now starting my 8th week since any chemo and other than left over (irratating as all get out) neuropathy in my feet and fingertips, I am feeling so much better physically.
I haven't been posting as much because I have hit a tough time and don't want to spew a bunch of negative stuff. I love you all and want only the very best for everyone. HUGS .... feel the love!!0 -

Did somebody wake me?
You're so sweet Pepe...the new chemo (Folfiri) makes me very sleepy I have found. I had my second Folfiri last Tuesday and that makes only 4 more treatments to go. Yay yay yay!....here is a funny story about my sleepiness......last Saturday there was a Kids Day event at the park. I knew I was tired and didn't feel like going but I also knew my 9 year old had been invited by a friend and was looking forward to it. It was sprinkling off and on and suddenly cleared up at 12 when it started so getting rained out didn't work. I thought about letting her go with the classmate that wanted to meet her there, but I didn't know the parents. ...So...I went. I met the classmates Mother who was very nice and we walked and talked and visited while following 4 little girls around watching them ride rides and play games. When it felt like it had been at least 3 hours I looked at the time and it was only ONE! It had only been 1 hour! I felt like I had to sit on the grass and could not go on any longer. I explained to the other Mother about the chemo and my weariness. My car was parked on the curb by the playground and Delores didn't mind walking with the kids while I sat and rested in my car till the event was over at 330. It felt heavenly! Only I fell asleep!! It was warm and I even rolled down my windows. I slept for 2 hours while people walked by. LOL It's a busy place any way as people walk and jog around this park but this day was even busier with the families walking to and from the kids day. At one time a man put his head in my window and woke me to tell me my car lights were on. lol....I actually slept through a 3 year old running across the busy street I was parked on. I would wake intermittantly to the noise of people talking as they passed me but I could not stay awake. It was so embarrassing. But.....I felt like a million bucks when it was time to leave LOL.
I'm just glad no one took a video of me "woman sleeping in car drools and snores at park" to post on YouTube LOL!!
Love and hugs, Gail ....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz0 -

Oh my dear Gail,
I know that incredibly sleepy feeling! It's scary at times to me.
How funny and nice that you got to sleep in the car while the other moms had the kids.
You take care and hang in there, girl!

Lori...I am so very sorry about your son's health, the insurance, and just everything you have been given to deal with. I hate that you are having to deal with all of these terrible things at the same time, as if any of them on their own aren't bad enough. We people here on this board often tell one another about the inspiration each gives.....and you dear beautiful Lori.....are full of inspiration! I wish you the best with the job search and for some piece of positive to come your way with it. That you are looking at the positive is amazing (job searching and seeing the better side of Folfox leftover's when you could be ...well, you know that we all get lost in those down in the dumps from time to time ). You're an amazing woman, and if you want to come on here to spew, rant, cry....then it's your turn because I honestly think sometimes it takes that release to get myself going again.
Love and hugs to you, Gail0 -
