Farewell FOLFIRI....
I'm being screened at MGH for the RAD001/AV-951 trial. RAD001 is everolimus, an agent that is already approved for renal cancer and attacks the m-TOR pathway. the AV-951 is a VEGF pathway agent, much like avastin. Both attack the blood vessel formation and tumor growth - so we'll see what happens here. Hope to start on April 4th if all scans and blood work are acceptable.
Anyone else on the protocol or something similar? It is offered at Mass General and Dana Farber as far as I know, I have also seen some references to some RAD001 trials at MD Anderson too (but I think they are single agent trials)

good luck
Hi Tom,
Sorry to hear that those options haven't worked out for you -- but glad that you have some clinical trial options open to you.
I'm on Xeliri + Avastin at the moment. Seems to be working out OK for me right now but Erbitux isn't an option for me (yes, I'm a mutant) and I am certainly keeping my eyes peeled for future options -- which appear somewhat limited for me.
So I am very interested to hear about the clinical trials you are exploring. I am sorry I have nothing to add on those but I do wish you all the best -- and would be so grateful if you could keep us posted.

Thanks for the support...kanniek1 said:How to handle stage 4 colon cancer
How long have you been diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer? Am currently on treatment for same. How are you feeling?
I am off to Boston in the AM for the final screening - hope to start the trial next week if I am eligible. As long as I do not have any mets in my noggin I will be accepted I think. Should be OK, my wife has been saying I have nothing up there for years.....after chemo I am beginning to agree.
As for my history - I just passed my 2 year anniversary of being diagnosed. I feel pretty good generally - a little tired and I've got some neuropathy issues from the old FOLFOX, but I bike on my trainer 10 miles a day despite the issues. Looking forward to warmer weather and outdoor activities...
