Hi Marcie
While I definately don't fall into the category of a 'young person' I just wanted to welcome you to our family. We have folks here of all ages so I am sure you will find some closer to your age.
Marie who loves kitties0 -
Hi Marcie
Sorry about your diagnosis, but glad you found us. I was 32 when I got diagnosed with stage 3 CC, but 10/11 lymph nodes were infected, did IVF and chemo. I'm 34 now and waiting on scan results to see if I'm still in remission If so will have hit my two year mark.
As Marie said we have people of all ages on this board, and age doesn't really matter when we are all on here. But can understand what you mean when your looking to relate to someone in your own age gap. You'll love it here, the oldies (they would be the men lol) and the ladies are all great, and I love them all as my second online family. Ask any questions you need to, and someone is always around to answer it or support you.
Hugsss

While this board is a great resource, there is another you should check out too. The Colon Club was founded by two young women with colon cancer. There are some people that were diagnosed at later ages that frequent the site (because even though they set it up for those under age 50 at diagnosis, they do not discriminate). But the majority there are those of us dx'd under age 50 - many in the 30's and 40's, and even some in their 20's. There really are different concerns and needs for younger people when dx'd - especially when dealing with new marriages, or singles concerns about dating, having children at home (some with babies), not being anywhere near retirement possibilities, not much financial security yet - the list goes on.
There are some people diagnosed younger on this board, but Colon Club focuses on those under 50. Since your concern was others dx'd early, you should check it out.

You will be a great advocate for all of us as you live a long fruitful life........and yes we have young folk in here as well....I'm only a little over 9 ( in dog years ) but whose counting.....Keep up the good work and get through the chemo then leave it behind you.......all in the love for our buddies......buzz0 -

At heart. And even though I have not forgiven him for backing out of our date, after the sex change and everything (do a search on sex change) I still count him as a friend.
He is a guiding light on our board, friend to all and sage to most.
Whatever age you got this it is far to young, but it does not mean we can't have some fun once in a while. Welcome to the board, hope you stick around, another voice is always welcome.0 -
Hi Marcie
Hey Marcie,
Welcome sorry to have to meet you but glad you found this site. This has been so very helpful to me. I am 52 but I never really grew up so mentally i'm about 24 lol. Age doesnt really matter when you are faced with this rotten disease but young bodies heal faster from treatments you may be faced with. I hope and pray your doctors take control of your disease and heal you in a hurry.

Hi, Marcie.
I can't really claim being young anymore, but I wanted to welcome you and tell you that I hope you'll hang out around here. You'll find out lots of good info and get great support.
Your baby is precious!

Two years ago at the age of 27, I was diagnosed with stage IV rectal cancer. I live in San Jose,Ca and understand your want to connect with someone around your age. welcome
Welcome -- and sorry you have cause to be here.
I was 44 when I was diagnosed -- not as young as you, but still relatively young! I had zero risk factors. Thunderbolt.
I'm now 52 -- and have seen both my kids graduate from high school -- yea!!
Is that your babe? What a honey. My kids have been my guiding light -- have allowed me to endure a lot of @#$# over the past few years -- and it has been worth every moment.
Wishing you all the best in your journey.

Hi Marcie, sorry you have had need to find this site but I'm sure you will find it really supportive. There seems to be so many young people this is happening to-my husband was diagnosed with stage 3 rectal cancer 7 years ag aged 31. I was pregnant with our first child then and have since had another. there are different problems assocaited with the young age at diagnosis and often I think the oncologists and surgeons struggle as most people theye are treating are decades older but hang in there-your story sounds really positive for a good outcome. will keep my fingers and everything else crossed for you kellyx0 -

Hi Marcie - Best wishes for your chemo treatment this Monday. I was diagnosed with colon cancer at 33. It has been three years now, and things are going great. You'll be ok. I also have one son and another one coming.0 -
Hi and welcome to the board.
Hi and welcome to the board. I was 37 when I got cancer stage 3 . Stay strong I know it's hard but you can do it. I just finished my last chemo treatment. You will find that this is board is a god sent. It helped me through alot of hard times. Like eveeryone says don't be afraid to ask questions because someone on here will have an answer.0 -
Hi there
Does being young at heart count? I'm 47, and was just diagnosed late last year with stage 4 CC. I felt I was a little young to get CC too, because they say to start screening people over the age 50. Oh well, you can't fight city hall, so I make the best of it. Life is still good overall.
I hope that your surgery took care of it for you, and that you and your cute little sweety, will enjoy many years of happiness together.
