Carol848 - How is your sister?
I've been hoping you would post and tell us how your sister did in surgery at MSK on the 15th. Please check in with us and let us know. I have been thinking about the two of you and how difficult it is in the beginning.
Hoping for the best.

Update on my sister Marie's debulking surgery
Unfortunately, the surgeon said it would have been too hard on her to remove the cancer she has; he said they would have had to remove the whole colon as it has spread;
The plan now is to do chemo, three treatments, hopefully she will get started next week;
Then go back in. They claim in most cases it shrinks some or most of the cancer.
Thanks so much for asking; she was released from Sloan Sunday
Please keep her in your prayers; she is staying at my house.0 -

Carol i just wanted to let you know what happened to me. my surgeon left my cancer on my colon alone because she would have had to remove my entire colon. the plan was to do chemo then go back in. i did six rounds of carbo/taxol.then the scan-the colon was clean the chemo did it's job and i did not have to have a second surgery for the colon ! Good Luck and tell her it imagine the chemo as little pac-men gobbling up the nasty cancer !

WOW Cafewoman53 that is something; thanks for sharing; I will defintely tell her; I can't believe all of the great positive stories on this board. We saw the surgeon today and the chemo will start Monday at Sloan's facility in Basking Ridge, Nj.
I like the pac man story; good comparison, Thanks again; and god bless you!!0 -

Who is your surgeon...?
Her surgeon is Dr. Mario Liteo; I didn't lke him at first because I didn't like what he had to say about my sisters cancer spreading. But I am getting more comfortable with hm and trusting.
Her chemo begins Monday; Her oncologist is Dr Alita-Graham. Will keep you posted. God bless all of you, Carol0
