Ideas for regaining strength after chemo...and protein recipes needed
Does anyone have some good strength building ideas for me? He rides a stationary bike and goes for little walks here and there..but nothing more than a few minutes at a time...He also had adenocarcinoma of the esophagus/stomach and has to eat multiple times a day due to the repostitioning of his stomach...each time he eats he gets a stomach ache...I'm looking for some TASTY protein drink recipes...he's so tired of the ensure drinks...
Please feel free to share any ideas you have

Welcome
Hello and welcome to you and your dad. I lost my dad to esophageal cancer in March 2010. Thank our God daily that you still have your father! I would suggest you make him some of your own homemade protein shakes. Get some protein powder, mix it with ice cream or yogurt. Add fresh or frozen fruits. Think of high calorie, high protein. How about the milk shakes at Mcdonald's or Wendy's? I know what you mean about the Ensure. Yuck! These made my dad have the runs. There is also boost and special K protein drinks. Hope this helps. You might also have to consider him getting a feeding tube. This way he will be getting all the nutrients he will need. We will be thinking and praying for all of you. Keep in touch. Congratulations on clean bill of no cancer!!!

Thank you for your comment. I just finished my last chemo for breast cancer. I have radiation still to do, and I still teach full days at my high school, but I am sooo very tired. I want to regain my strength and not 4-5 months from now. I shall look into your shakes idea. I also try to eat fresh fruit and albacore for protein.0
