Biotene......
is what my oncologist suggested. They have a mouthwash and a toothpaste. I never had mouth sores though so I didn't try it. Maybe someone else on here has.

I'm so sorry that you have mouth sores, they are horrible. I use biotene toothpaste and mouthwash. Also, my onc prescribed lidocaine swish - it's a temporary fix, but boy for about 30 minutes I feel good. Also, the only thing that I can drink is super cold bottled water. Try to eat soft stuff like potatoes. I use a lot of cold sour cream too, for some reason this works for me. I hope you start feeling better soon.

Nystatin..Jean 0609 said:Hi Elizabeth,
Biotene also has a mouth gel and a mouth spray. Although, I finished my chemo in August, I am still having Herceptin treatments and a dry mouth.
A good friend who is a maxillary facial surgeon prescribed Nysatin for me...it was great! Kept it in the frig...never had any mouth problems at all...Used it 4 times a day, especially about 30 minutes prior to eating...seemed to help my taste buds a bit...He also kept me supplied with Biotene which I also kept in the frig..the coldness felt so good...0 -
Mouthwash
Yes, Biotene! The metalic taste lasts for a while. Your taste buds were affected by the Chemo. Ask your Onc. or Onc. Nurse.0 -
Magic Mouthwash
Mine is called Magic Mouthwash, it's prescription, and it works well for me. Ask your onc about it.

My Onc Nurse recommended rinsing 3 times a day with good ol fashion baking soda and a dash of salt. It's worked wonders for me. No real mouth sores... however, One day I felt one coming on and quickly used this mixture and it worked. It's inexpensive. I highly recommend it.
Wishing you all the Best!!!

is another thing my oncologist suggested for me to try. This is certainly the cheapest option. I think that Biotene is kind of expensive. My dentist gave it to me when I went to have my teeth cleaned before I started chemo so I had a sample. Used it twice and then stopped because I was lucky enough to never get any mouth sores.
