Cat scan and video

in Head and Neck Cancer #1
Went for a six month Ct scan on Friday, will get results tomorrow and have a viseostrobe. Not very confident with this as I have developed a cough and have some ear pain.

    Good thoughts coming your way.
    Not surewhat the videostrobe is. I am hoping the results are good. I have had left ear pain a lot too, so I can understand your nervousness. He did scope me and didn't see anything. So I guess that's good.

    As you and Dawn have stated, it can be a time of anxiety and nerves...stay positive (as best you can).

    I too have had different aches, pains and swelling over the past nearly two years post treatment.

    My ENT always lets me know this is common for several years. So far everything has been good to go. But I also have gotten ear aches, swelling, aches and pains around the area that was treated...always makes me nervous and start thinking the worse after a few days.

    Waiting is the hard part...
    As we all know, waiting is the hardest part, especially if we have any aches or pains that give us reason to be concerned. Seventeen months post treatment and I still have a cough, could be partly from the lung cancer but I'm used to it by now and try not to let it concern me. As for ear pain, I have that a lot, I have a dull ear ache today but that is also something I have learned to live with. I have seen my ENT several times for this and he has scoped me and told me nothing has changed, which is good. My scopes have been coming back good for a year and a half so I don't let the occasional ear pain concern me as much.

    I don't know anything about the viseostrobe but it sounds interesting. Can you tell us more about it??

    Will be praying for clean scan results tomorrow and good results from your viseostrobe.

    Waiting
    I truly know how you feel! I have had ear pain but was because of infection & hard wax. My scopes have been great & am waiting for other test's to be done. I have been shopping alot & my house is spotless. i will keep you in my prayer's & wish you a clean scan with great result's.

    Scan and Strobe
    Met with the onc at ten this morning, said that the cat scan came back good no evidence of disease. The scan was of my chest, neck and lower head. Real happy with that. Then on to the ENT area and had my strobe. The strobe is simply a camera on the end of a tube and it is inserted into the mouth, it goes all the way back to the gag reflex area, the techie is real good rarely touches the reflex, you speak sentences, hum, say a variety of e sounds and it is all recorded. Fantastic, I can see my throat on the screen while she is doing it. Strange to see the two cords moving the way they do. The ENT came in looked at the video and said everything is good another improvement of the very good strobe I had last September, he toook a look at my throat with a flashlight, felt all around the outside of my neck and declared he was happy, the cough is aspiration and the earache is one of those things that get you get with head and neck radiation and that there is probably some fluid in my ears. Nothing to worry about but I might want to see an audiologist. I saw one a year ago because of loss of heaing and she said that I had fluid behind both eardrums and they could drain them if i wanted but I decided to live with it at that time, so I will think about it.     Strobe
    LOL, my wife in her sick humor (learned entirely from me, or so she leads me to believe), really enjoyed when the rads MD would do that to me....

    Here I was, probe and camera down my nostril and throat, doing the usual EEE, etc...and she is sitting over near me watching the monitor, "Oh Cool"....hmmmpfff. I guess it's all perspective, she definitely had a better one that I at the moment.

    Not to worry, I still have some minor ear pain 5 mos. post treatment. My first PET and Physical exam were clean. I was told the radiation, and if you took Cisplatin can cause some equilibrium issues in some people.
