Food for thought
When people talk about changing diet, for example, I have generally shut down. But when I'm wrong (or might be wrong), well then, I'm wrong (or might be wrong).
The link I'm providing is to a 20 minute conversation by a doctor at a TED convention offering some provocative data that diet can indeed influence occurance, recurrance, and longevity. If you can survive it for 20 minutes, it is a useful listen, I think, and, at the very least, changes my mind about the power of diet in cancer care.
Take care,
Joe

Thanks Joe
It sounds like it will be worth watching. I don't get involved in any of the conversations regarding diet for the same reasons. I try to eat healthy but at the same time I eat whatever tastes good to me and whatever I can swallow. My nutritionist never told me to eat certain foods or stay away from certain foods so I figured that all these antioxidant foods may not be as important as they sounded since none of my doctors told me to change my diet.
Maybe this video will change my mind

This video is well worth the 20 minutes. May not work for everyone but certainly some minor additions to diet can't hurt, even if it's more red wine, I mean grapes.
Thanks Joe for sharing and I wish everyone a healthy recovery.

I am going to save the link and watch next time I have my lap top out. It isn't playing on my iPhone.
The only thing my nutritionists and docs said were to get more whole grains in my diet and more fruits. Those were the two things I was lacking in a bit. My RO was happy when he asked about my diet and I told him about juicing and my emulsifier.0 -

I thought it was a great video. I started watching the other advertised on the side "Regenerating our Bodies", but I saved it. It is also 20 minutes long and appears to be worth viewing.
Now, I have to do some research and get the listings of all the foods and more written information. I noted that I have been eating some of them with my limited intake. I like that concept of not taking away, but adding foods that will help you.0 -

Man - so glad you saw this vid. Anti-Angionesis (AA) is one of the many avenues of attack we can do to fight off 'C'. Funny how the AA diet recommendations (Duh ...did I say diet.. I mean...) the things you eat, that can perform AA are all very similar to the other recommneded 'food' things that help the body maintain a stronger immunity, and less inflammatory conditions ie. an Anti-Cancer way to eat (I Didn't say the word diet.)
There are many more like this and certain foods known to kill or block cancer progression. They don't always work all the time nor for all people, but they do and have worked for many. Chemo, similarly does not work work all the time and certainly known to be ineffective in many people as well as procin chemo resistant cancer cells.
I have made a small website with a few more which you may find interesting. I would suggest you look aspecially at: Turmeric, Papaya Leaf Extract and Melatonin.

Appreciate the vid. Diet is always a rough conversation with a group that has lost their taste buds and the joy of eating that goes with them.

This is not one guy's web site, buck, nor even a cancer-based web site, but a collection of videos of speeches made at TED conferences, with topics covering the gamut of interests, and with speakers frequently held in the highest regard in their various areas of expertise/interest.
Otherwise, as indicated by scambuster's reference that this may be evidence of a leak in the dike, you are not the only skeptic .

As Glenna points out, too, some of us are even dealing with the ability JUST to eat, regardless of what it tastes like, trying to lose the tube, perhaps. It can be kind of hard to get excited about a diet regimen when you are concerned on a daily basis with getting ANYTHING down.
Still, I found it interesting and am glad you and others did too.

The benefits of Fruit and Vege's is exactly why we take the all natural food supplement we do. We will not remove any food my husband enjoys eating from his diet... but he can't eat the amount of fruits and vege's recommended daily. It only make sense....

I just watched it and it makes sense. Looks like foods high in Antioxidants.
I am five months post treatment today, and if I could swallow a Porterhouse steak, I would have one. (in moderation of course) If the day ever arrives where I can eat red meat, I am going to, but not in the same quantities I used to. Good common health sense!!
I am at a stage where I have a very selective menu of foods I can eat, and also try not to lose any weight. Unfortunately some of these foods are Chefboyardee, ramen noodles, ice cream, or high in fat sauces over the top of other foods just so I can get them down. I can indeed eat a salad as long as it has allot of dressing on it, and can eat berries and other selective fruits. Some fruits and veggies are just to stringy to get down.
In short, I need to supplement my food intake with Ensure, Boost or other simillar products as I simply do not have the appetite to eat enough food that will allow me to keep my weight at a steady level. Eating for me right now is an unpleasant necessary chore. I receive NO enjoyment from eating as it all tasted a few degrees off normal.
I do see where it is beneficial to try to incorporate the Antiangionetic foods into my daily routine.

I'm just like you Mike, I eat to live vs living to eat like I used to. I'm going to take a look at the video again that Joe posted and take notes this time. I need to try more healthy foods too. Pouring gravy on everything is not the answer long term for any of us. I'm stopping on the way home to get some tomatoes and berries !!
thanks for the post Joe,

Hey sweets,
No problem to add the site to yr Superthreads Post (it is a n excellent thing you have created !). the montage site is a collection of links to various alternative and natural therapies and diet that can help with treatments and get the body to help itself fight off cancer include the anti-angiogenesis subject.
Joe, no worries man.
Buck, if the website reference was aimed at me, this is not really a 'My Website'. It is meant to help people zoom on on some good information to help them make choices about their treatments and lifestyle.
Mike, on the salads, try a huge lashing of fresh Olive Oil. You can mix a spoon of mustard, a dash or Soy or Sesame or Coconut Oil to spice it up and also try avocadoes to help with your weight and other benefits (Haas variety the best). I know what you mean on the 'Eating is a chore' thing. best meal of the day: Breakfast = 1 whole fresh papaya with wholegrain cereal and my nutrition shake with one of the non dairy milks. Try it. There is still some pleasure in food.
Regds to all
